In the near future, humanity has expanded into the Solar system. But this expansion through space is threatened by relentless Solar Storms. These Interstellar hurricanes of tremendous power destroy ships and lives every time they strike.

So humanity built a new, experimental spacecraft to try and calm the solar storms. They called it what it was: STS Hope. But when the first solar storm struck it, the Hope vanished into the depths of space.

Now, a decade later, she has been detected within the asteroid belt, powerless, damaged and drifting. So build a ship, fly to the asteroid belt, and try to bring her home.
Features

Build a ship
- For the first time in a space rogue-alike, players start the game by constructing their own ship. Use parts in any configuration you like. Build a gunboat, bristling with weaponry. Build a graceful explorer or a pared¬down speed demon. Build whatever ship that you think will get you there and home again.

Evolve and rebuild as you play
– Each section of Solar Storm will present new challenges to your ship, requiring the design and function of the ship to change as the game continues. Adapt and evolve your design to the ever-changing challenge of survival in the cold depths of space.

Adaptive combat tactics - Need more parts? Make the most of the huge array of weapons to blow the enemy literally to pieces, and take the parts you want from the wreckage. Our combat mechanics allow you to precisely pull apart your enemy and make their components part of your ship.

Unpredictable gameplay – Each time you play will be unique, as Solar Storm will procedurally generate events and encounters on the way to the Asteroid belt and beyond. No play-through of Solar Storm will be the same as the one before.

A deep, non-linear story – The story of the STS Hope and its disaster is a story of bravery and redemption, told through non-linear story methods. Players will have to play through several times to find all the clues to tell the full story of the STS Hope.

An immersive, realistic universe
– Solar Storm is the story of humanity's exploration of the Solar System. There are no aliens or faster than light travel in our game, but there are the myriad of dangers inherent in space travel. This is the golden age of exploration, with all the dangers and riches that go with it.

The standalone Solar Storm demo received an extremely positive early review from the IGM Average Giants podcast last night.

The Calgary based pair, assisted by Kieran Mathers from the Solar Storm team, had a live playthrough of the Solar Storm standalone demo, STS-96. They built an original ship, named and armed it, and then launched it in an attempt to reach Mars.

On the way, they blew apart enemy drones, shot down kamikaze satellites, dodged asteroid swarms, ran out of fuel (twice) and generally experienced everything the game had to offer our players. They got nowhere near Mars, but had a great time anyway!

Nick Cescon, one half of the Average Giants team said "That was great. Solar Storm is a seriously fun space simulator with just the right balance of fast paced action and in depth planning. I really enjoyed that!"

We're really pleased that the Averagegiants team enjoyed their play-through, and we're sure that our players will have the same fun experience.
