"Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story" is a 2d adventure game inspired by Fatal Frame and Clock Tower. In 2083 Neo-Hong Kong a young woman named Mei-Lin Mak is pulled into a ghost story when her cybernetic eyes start to malfunction and blur the lines of reality and the supernatural. Sense tackles ideas of perception, consciousness, and the supernatural while providing a deep and intricate story in a world that has taken 5 years to craft.
A message from Benjamin Widdowson
As the end date looms it has become clear that Sense will not be funded this time around. We are very disappointed that we weren't able to convince more people of our vision and goal for the game at this time, and I especially take the brunt of that responsibility to heart. I and the team have spent a lot of time talking about what to do, what's next, and what "went wrong" and have come to the conclusion that the best thing we can do for now is cancel the campaign.
Don't lose hope though! We will be relaunching very soon, early next year (Q1 2018) with a new and improved version of Sense - A Cyberpunk Ghost Story. Obviously this means demo 2.0, some of the guest artist items, and other updates will be pushed off to later dates, but I am not giving up on any part of this game. I wanted to be very transparent and open with all of you regarding our plan and what we need to do. It will be a hard, but short road to our relaunch date and we will keep you all updated every step of the way. I sincerely apologize for not meeting our goal at this time, it has been simultaneously humbling to see so many people willing to support us, and disheartening to consider where I may have failed. But to paraphrase a lesson from the butler of a very unstable comic book billionaire, we only fall to learn how to get back up.
So what is it we plan to update at the relaunch?
The above items will take some time, luckily we have a holiday season to get it all done. Right now our plan is to relaunch in early 2018, giving us about 3-4 months from today to accomplish quite a lot, and we will be fully dedicated to achieving this.
In the Interim
So where does this leave you until the relaunch? Well, we need your help and input. We want to be transparent with you every step of the way, we want to show you build updates, we want to get your feedback often, we want to build a community around our game. Sense will not become vaporware; development hasn't stopped yet and won't stop now, and we know that the game will only get better and more polished if you tell us what you like and dislike as we develop.
The next week or so may be relatively quiet but right here on this Kickstarter page we will continue to submit updates about everything we can. Please make sure to follow us here on kickstarter to be notified when the new campaign goes live, and any interim updates in the meantime!
