Today was spent playing with techniques to make normal maps for the sprites. I settled on a good process and made normals for the captain and the boat. Here you can see a light moving through the scene and dynamically lighting the sprites. Should really come in handy for the day/night cycle.
Looks, awesome, Im guessing this is shadows/clouds and the sun?
That's on my to-do list, but this gif is just a point light moving around to test the dynamic lighting of sprites.
