Second playable build, alpha is out! - 10/21/2013

IMPORTANT: SAVE FILES FROM THE PREVIOUS BUILD WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS ONE - Sorry :/ This will probably be the case until beta, or whenever I put a much more stable save system into the game.

TO PLAY THIS UPDATE: Ditch the last build (a0.4.2.3) if you have it, and just treat this update as a standalone. Thanks for playing :)

  • Added a few new items - Argeshii Fetish, Gosen Fetish, Meat
  • Fade transitions, zoom in/out transitions on worldmap
  • Overworld procedural encounters (hunting type, battle type)
  • Story engine is now in place, with first story sequence
  • Balanced the enemy spawners, some enemy HP and damage
  • Weapons and Armor now lose BP upon death instead of outright breaking
  • Broken gear remains in inventory (to be used in repair/salavage in a later update)
  • Increased initial knives/axes carrying cap
  • Font and UI polishing
  • New Enemy: Jailer
  • New location tilesets (only used in overworld encounters right now)
  • Extended some areas
  • New music track
  • New death system/checkpoint system - game no longer goes to "game over" screen on death, but respawns player at the last (invisible at the moment) checkpoint they crossed.
  • Squished lots of bugs (and probably created many new ones as a result)

Eventually, yeah, I plan on sticking a modest price tag on a full featured version of the game. Between now and then, expect free alpha and beta builds of it. Thanks for checking it out, though :)

The games looking good. I like the style and mix of the different views. Music is catchy and the sfx are nice. (SFXR I'm assuming.. heh) Control's pretty good.

Maybe some setting to show the game in a proportional aspect and maybe in original screen size so that the game isn't too blurry and jagged if stretched/scaled the wrong way.

Overall it's taking a nice turn toward entertaining hours of fun. : )

Thanks very much! Using Reaper for music and SFX, actually, with a few 8-bit plugins :)

Definitely working on proper scaling and support for different display sizes.

Thanks so much for the kind words and I'm glad you're getting some fun out of it!
