Rogue Craft is an open source ncurses based (2D terminal) game. The main goal is to be simple, but still have fun. The vision is to have a game with world you can form, and need to survive in, with RPG (quests, XP/skill system), sandbox (building, and customizing the world), and also some survival (crafting, not starving to death) and many other cool features. Currently Linux is supported, hopefully it will be tested, and optimized on other nix systems too.

Rogue Craft 0.1 release

News

I'm happy to publish at IndieDB for the first time, and introduce the project I'm working on. Rogue Craft is an ncurses (terminal) based RPG/sandbox game, at least it'll be in the future. :-) It's still in a very basic stage, but steadily getting improved. There are a lot of features planned to be implemented, and of course new ideas are also welcome! You can probably can give it a try on any GNU\Linux system (tested on 32 & 64 bit Ubuntu).

Please click here to download, and for the very simple install guide.

The 0.1 release added some very fundamental inventory and item managing methods.

  • Items can be dropped from the inventory
  • Items can be placed on shortcut from the inventory
  • Tools will wear out after using them

Other than that, there are some bug and 32 bit build fixes. The whole changeloge can be checked here.
