In the future, some time after the success of ADMX, the full nature of dark matter is finally understood. Governments, corporations and criminals have begun to harness the benefits of this discovery. From generating electricity to the creation of designer drugs, the power of dark matter axions is harnessed in many ways. The effects of this time period are disasterous. Illness, harmful radiation and horrific mutations are widespread. Criminals commonly referred to as "bandits" fight for control of society. The military is downtrodden. The only hope left for humanity lies in the hands of scientists and mercenaries looking to solve the mysteries of the axion. You are one of the few... the remnant... what will become of you?
Axion is an open world first person shooter with some rpg and survival elements. The game is also single player or multiplayer with LAN and online capability.

Axion is now available on itch.io!
Axion left early access on Steam in December 2015. I have now made the game available on itch.io as well!
The itch.io version of the game is DRM free and includes it's own content distribution and automatic updates. If a patch is released on Steam, the itch.io version will also detect the update and prompt you to install the latest version which it will then do for you if you choose to update. You will also receive a Steam key with your purchase.
A significant amount of updates have been released for Axion since the game was last updated here on Indie DB. To see a full change log, check out the news page on Steam here:

Remnant Z? Really? You honestly couldn't pick a better name? We had Day Z, then War Z, now Remnant Z?
Ugh.
The title used to be "The Long After". It was actually tough to choose a new title. I noticed a game called "The Long Dark" on Steam and felt the title was too similar. The name may change again before the game is complete. It's not just an open survival game like Day Z. I am developing a story line. The beginning missions are already in the game. It is about the mystery surrounding a mutative virus that is causing the downfall of society. As the protagonist, you will uncover the mystery and may be able to salvage what is left of humanity.
Hey! Just wanted to ask, so I downloaded the game but it always freezes on the loading screen and it's also not going into full screen. Is there a way I can fix this?
Is the arrow still moving next to the word loading at the bottom of the screen? If so, just wait. The loading time can be significant depending on settings selected and your PC. Just press alt-enter while the game is starting up to switch to full screen.
I edited the launcher to always start the game in full screen. The file is being uploaded now. You will have to download the .zip file again and run Setup.exe. Next time you run the game it will automatically run in full screen. Thanks for the help. let me know how it works out.
