A fully dynamic haunting-experience. Experience the horrors of a haunting that's never the same twice.
Features:
- Free Content Updates FOREVER: Paranormal will receive free content updates that add new locations, stories, scenarios, scares, gameplay mechanics, and more! You will NEVER have to pay for DLC in Paranormal. The game's content is planned to double or even triple with each major content update.
- Collectibles: In your bedroom, there's a shelf where all the collectibles you find are displayed.
- Sleep System: Sleeping in your bed recharges your camera's batteries and also has a chance of triggering other events.
- Flashlight (camera light): Creates a bright, short ranged light that casts dynamic shadows.
- Newer sound effects: I've totally redone the sound in the game, optimizing it for surround sound or headphones.
- Controller support: The game will launch with full XBOX 360 Controller support, as well as native Mouse + Keyboard.
- Dynamic Haunting: I've revamped the dynamic haunting features from the tech demo I released, adding multiple outcomes, dynamic triggers, countless variables, and an action-reaction system. This will make your experience with the game much more unique and memorable, without missing out on anything important.
- First-Person Camera: Much like in the movies 'Paranormal Activity' or 'The Blair Witch Project', the viewpoint will be that of a camera being held by a person (the player). Effects like camera shake, pixelation, video distortion, audio distortion, and motion blur will all be present thanks to the camera screen-space shader I built for everything.

PARANORMAL 1.2.4 IS NOW AVAILABLE ON DESURA
Paranormal is finally fully released! Paranormal 1.2.4 contains many bug fixes, as well as a new experimental gameplay mechanic called Stains. Stains are paranormal hotspots that have a small chance to appear throughout the house. Are they dangerous? Only one way to find out. See the changelog below for more details.

NOW IS YOUR CHANCE TO LITERALLY BE PART OF THE GAME!
PARANORMAL: The Town -- Paranormal's first free expansion pack will, in essence, be a sequel to the base game. Since it's pretty much an entirely new game, it will take quite some time to complete. The Kickstarter project will help us raise money for Paranormal: The Town's development. Let's work together and make the most unique and amazing horror experience around!
Here's a feature list:
- An entire town to explore with randomly generated content.
- A new storyline with new characters, including a new main character.
- New gameplay mechanics (will elaborate at later date).
- Still played in the found-footage style (like Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch Project).
- Confirmed locations in the town currently include: A highschool, a graveyard.
- The story will be related to the story from the base game.
- If you like Silent Hill, you should be excited-that's where we're taking some inspiration from.
- More story-driven experience while still maintaining the random nature of the game.
- More features to be announced at a later date.
Changelog:
- Added new gameplay mechanic: Stains.
- Added one new ending (minor).
- Tweaked Unabridged Mode for better pacing.
- Fixed many issues with invisible objects.
- Fixed some issues with certain endings.
- Fixed a few crashes.
- Fixed tons of glitches and bugs.

(The Black Screen glitch some users have been facing has been fixed in 1.2.4. reasons being:
You have some really good jump scares but the littles ones after that dont make much of an impact to scare me. im not feeling overwelmned.
i hope that you work more around these issues as you will be looking at a winner mate. keep up the good work. im looking forward to more updates

I just bought an iPad so I could work on an iOS version of Paranormal :D Hopefully the UDK license will eventually allow me to bring Paranormal to Android and Linux, too!
I want to buy this game now, but i'm worried that if I buy the Desura version, and the game gets greenlit, that you will stop updating the Desura version and I will get boned. Will people with the Desura ver. get steam keys?
If anything, the Desura version will always be the first to get updates due to their super speedy and easy patching process. Once Paranormal gets greenlit, every Desura owner of the game will get a Steam key for free :)

Havent got to play this game in a while due to a hard drive crash, but now when i try to play it the screen is completely black, all the audio is there but the screen is all black, is there a way you could put more graphical options in? Lower resolutions? maybe a lower texture setting?
Which version of the game are you playing? Older versions of Paranormal (and UDK in general) are incompatible with the Intel HD 3000 graphics chip (powers many laptops and some desktops). That issue has been fixed in Paranormal 1.2.4 though :) I do plan on adding way more graphics options, too!
i beleive its 1.2.4, I'm gonna install the launcher and see if that hepls
