Paranormal is a game where you play the role of a person with a camera inside a haunted house. As you play, you'll experience a truly unique haunting experience. No two hauntings are the same. ------ BETA 4 has some issues. THIS IS NOT A FINISHED PRODUCT! I'm releasing this for testing purposes. I will add more to future beta versions. The first floor of the house is nearly complete, and the second floor is also nearly complete. Changelog and more can be found in the description. To everyone having crashing issues: I'm updating the game to a newer version of UDK, so hopefully the crashing issues will be resolved for the final version of the game!

Currently, the game requires a fairly good computer to run. I'll look into making it compatible with older PC's.

So I can't play it and idk why. It gets to the menu where it tells me to press "E" then when I do it says UDK.exe has stopped working. And in that menu I can see that some of the textures are screwed up and I feel like some stuff is getting cut off. I don't know what to do :/

Instead of running the game full screen, try playing it windowed and see if that helps. Thanks!

I am having the same problem. I get to the end of the cutscene when it says 'enter the haunting' and then it stops running. I have tried it in windows mode and full screen and it does it in both.
Oh I should add that it just says 'program has stopped responding' after he says 'Im not crazy'

This is a problem I believe is fixed in beta 5. Try re downloading the game, sometimes it gets corrupted while downloading.
Redownloading didn't help. What did help run the game was to actially delete all the *.bik files. So, definitely traceable to some problem with Bink. I can run the game now, no movies, but hey, it works!

When i open the game it runs in Windowed Screen, is there any way to change the resolution of the game or to choose full screen because when i start the game i can´t change anything... And it's as if it was in 3D, i can see the 3D effect but i don´t know if it's a bug, or i have to change it somewhere...

The visual effect is emulating a camera recording. It's meant to be that way. Press Alt and Enter at the same time to make the game full screen. This works in most games, including this one.
I have a major issue. It will not download for the life of itself, every time i try it downloads less and less of the installer files before it gets interrupted. I'm getting very frustrated reading the comments seeing it works fine for everyone else except me, with no solution that I can figure out myself. Any suggestions? :(

Are you running the game fullscreen? Try running it windowed, if you are.
thats the same problem with me, when he says "to prove im not crazy" it goes to a scoreboard of an entirely different game. oh and its running in a window
It's meant to go to a scoreboard. It's just leftover stuff from unreal engine, it should take you to the main game afterwards.

I'm having an issue starting the game. I will click to open it and the it will freeze up and come up saying it has stopped working?? I don't even get as far as the main menu. I'm running windows 7 and am pretty sure my laptop is capable of running it. Can anyone help?
What are your laptop's specs? Also, try downloading and installing Net framework 4 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851).

No problem, also there's a problem I've had twice now then when I try to go to sleep it wont let me no matter how many times i try yet it works on and off so possibly something to look at, also the dresser beside the fish tank, you can walk through it.
Please don't think I'm being picky because I'm not I'm just trying to help iron out the wrinkles of what is to be an awesome game!
Thanks for the feedback! This is what beta is for :) In beta 4 I have sleep set at 30 second cooldown, so you can only sleep every 30 seconds. If that isn't the issue, I'll have to investigate this further.

How do i acces an options tab? and i read the update secteion, but i still go VERY slow on the stairs, shall i update it myself?

Beta 4 doesn't have the options tab. To go faster on the stairs, hold down Shift while going up them to sprint. I've fixed the slow stairs after all the feedback I've gotten from people hating it. The final version of the game will not slow you down while on the stairs.
oh, ok. But when will the changes on the changelog at "Paranormal"'s IndieDB page, start working? I would like to explore the attic and play with my XBOX 360 controller (i dont know how i could write that, so it would make total sense, since English aint my first language.) Will the full version be free?

The changelog is just a log of things I've done. The final game will be a retail product, but it won't be expensive at all.

I assume that you are making this with the Unreal Engine, but do you script the models etc. yourself? Because i am trying to make my own game in C++, and im not very experienced, but someday...
I make many of the models myself. Some of them are license free and are legally allowed to be used in commercial projects, but I usually try to just make my own. I'm making the game in Unreal Engine :)
How do you script/code stuff? I always wanted to know :) And i didn't quite understand the chanelog part, will it be in the full game only, or Will you release a BETA 5? :)

It will be in the full game only. The game will be released in a few months. Coding is difficult at first, but I slowly taught myself how. I recommend starting out by editing other people's code and learning how it works before making something from scratch.
Wich programs do you/can i use to code? I have no clue at all how to code.
I want to report a bug too, you can go through the kitchen window.If you jump on the table, you can then then jump through the window. Not sure if this is a bug, since there is a giant figure in the "garden", that look like the figure that is in the kitchen, in the corner with the fridge.
