The fight for survival is on! OverDose is a class, team & objective based multiplayer game set on a post-apocalyptic Earth. With gameplay in the tradition of classic games such as Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Enemy Territory, melded with up to date gameplay mechanics and movement, OverDose is a unique blend of online action, team play and of course, lots of gore. Using id tech 2 as a base, OverDose features updated engine features like full real time lighting and shadow mapping, physically based rendering, particle and physics simulations and more. Plus, in classic id Software tradition, our engine and game are fully moddable and scriptable, meaning even amateur mod makers can bring their own creations to life with ease. This isn't war... It's an all out apocalypse!
The first of several new ViDocs to explain a little about the tech behind OverDose. Take a look and let me know...
NOTE: The reason the shadows at time draw in front of the hands is simple, the hands are a test model attached to the screen. That of course won't happen with the correct drawing later.
Skeet.
Looks awesome man.
Hahaha Good old Et and many hours wasted in fuel dump
lookin rlly sexy!!!
I've been tracking you guys for two years and I have to say that you have been making good progress ever since.
Nice, you're speaking a bit too fast though.
You guys did the same thing Valve did to the Quake 2 engine for Source. Nice job upgrading the living **** out of the engine! :D
No actually because Source doesnt look near as good as this :)
SWEET! this looks awesome, but will it be for free? and whens it coming out?
Yes, free and open source. Why? Are you willing to pay for it? :D
And to answer your second question: "When it's done" :p
I'd pay for it if, the gameplay itself is on the same level as the visuals.
Beautiful! It's getting better all the time. From Minute 1 to 1:15 you might as well have spoken Chinese though - I didn't understand a word ;)
great vid, fps seems to be a little low. What is the hardware you are running this on?
I was recording a HD video with fraps in real time while rendering a next generation lighting solution... Of course it dropped below 60fps.
Obviously...
Binocs innit...
Gorgeous. I know you suffered some knockbacks recently, but your perseverance is really beginning to pay off.
Realy cool :)
i lold at rim lighting , great stuff
Nice work and the engine looks really good but one thing striked me as ode, can you explain why the shadow of the objects overlaps the hand model when they shouldn't do that? Is ode because the shadow is casting the other way.
"NOTE: The reason the shadows at time draw in front of the hands is simple, the hands are a test model attached to the screen. That of course won't happen with the correct drawing later."
Are the hands always look like that on most engine? Its on source, and others..
Yeah, why do most games have gloves and stuff, its almost like most games try and hide seams on models and gloved hands hide them better... Crazy...
Its also almost like these are the old, old hands... Again, totally nuts...
nice counter strike hands
Not only are they a custom model from scratch, they are also old if you look at other pics/videos. Stop trolling.
awesome work so far :) keep going
