OreSome is a 2D strategy game about ore -- exploring space for it, fighting aliens for it, blowing up planets with it. Build a network of frames and bots to defeat your enemies -- or just throw a sun at them. In a dying, decrepit universe full of foes, build up your forces and mine your way to the top of the food chain to explore further and further out into the void. By the time you're ready, you'll be powering light speed jump drives with stars, building Death Star style super weapons with black holes and in charge of the largest scale mining operation ever known to man -- all working for one of humanity's least scrupulous corporations -- and there's a lot of competition.

News! It's been a while, forgood reason. Multi-player programming has been eating the development time ofthe game. Thus, we come to this post. The biggest technical hurdles have been overcome, but there is a metric tonne of work to be done to bring the experimental multi-player up the same level as the standard campaign. This brings up the question - should the focus be on this, or improving the campaign and adding new things? The most likely option seems to be back to the main stuff, with a gradual improvement on the multiplayer as a side thing, but sound off in the usual places on what you guys think.

In other news, I've been thinking about the best way to get people engaged in the design process and have decided upon a competition. A design challenge to build a capital ship for the game's enemies. You'll have seen the kind of thing that's possible in the trailers and screenshots, so go to town!

The contest will be open ended for now, but eventually a halt will be called and the winner will get something in reward - not just kudos either! Any submission that is good enough to be put in the game will be given a free key for OreSome to do with as you will. If there are a lot of good entries, something better might be possible for the top few entrants, but we'll see what the interest is.

Entrants can use either the free Shipyard Mode or the full game's shipyard to create their entries. Just upload them to a file sharing service and post the link on the forumĀ

v0.54
Added Suns and planet generation in multi-player - work in progress and quite buggy still (e.g. asteroids that break up spawn different things for different players)
Added Activated bots in multi-player become owned by discovering player
Improved Bot and frame hopper issues in multi-player
Improved Various minor issues and efficiency
Fixed Chat text position when zoomed

v0.53
Added Loading from in game menu
Added Ore drops in multiplayer
Fixed Shipyard load fix
Fixed Sound settings requiring restart
Fixed Ore drop efficiency

v0.52
Fixed IP Connect for multiplayer - should now function correctly online as long as port 14242 is forwarded correctly at server end
Fixed Crash related to blower bot firing in multiplayer

So, curious androids, go build, damn it! There's work to be done!

Would you be able to add a "Load Game" option to the menu when you are ingame. so you do not have to go to the main menu to load a game.

also any advice to avoid they little monster things (yellow sun that sticks to you, green thing that shoots in 4 directions etc) becouse when I try to set up my small little bussiness they keep coming along and pushing or shooting my ships into suns etc while I am trying to do things with otherships.

also is there a way to get better gun for my main ship (the builder ship) its hard to hit the little critters with the mining thing.

Great game though its hard to get required mats to make some stuff =P

You'll want to set up some defences - mines are a quick and dirty option, or frames with blaster bots for point defence for a more long term choice. Later on, you can use explosive walls and more to take this further. Instead of upgrading the builder you'll want to build a bigger ship around it from frame that can take more fire and do more. I'd suggest messing around with Shipyard Mode a bit to see some of the things you can do, or watch some of the youtube videos.

The lack of instruction for this game is in my view, pretty bad. Don't get me wrong, I love the universe, the idea, and the detail put in, but better (and more technical) explanations for the shipyard and each part would be great. For example, how do you rotate parts?
And also just a little knit-pick, but I feel that the final thruster upgrade makes you go way too fast at times. The addition of some sort of speed control would be helpful.
In total, this is a pretty good game relative to how it's in Alpha. Keep it up guys!

Oh and I forgot to mention, is there a way to scroll down text boxes? So far I haven't found a way and there seems to be a lot of info that I'm missing.
Also, is there a fullscreen mode?

There's still some work to be done with help systems, though everything is described in campaign mode, not everything is obvious. Rotating parts can be achieved by holding right click while dragging them out. The thruster upgrade can only be accessed with cheat mode and will likely be modified before it goes in the main game.Text boxes do scroll... but there shouldn't be many that have too much text in. Fullscreen mode is in the usual place, in options.

And scrolling is how? Both the mouse wheel and arrows don't work for me -_-
Once you fix all of the bugs and such, you'll have achieved a masterpiece :D

They should have a slider at the side as in a regular window. Could you take a screenshot and either send it to me or post it on the forum? It ought to be easier to see the issue then.

Not plans exactly, but inklings. Monogame would be the likely avenue - but there's no guarantees on when or even if, I'm afraid.

Brilliant game! It feels like a crossover of 'Asteroids 3D' and 'Miner Wars 2081' and 'The Incredible Machine'. For a 2d strategy game, it has great graphics. The quests and places to go seem endless. The gameplay feels very arcade like and makes the adventures in space so much fun. I have only been playing for a few hours and I'm hooked. For me the only down side is it crashing, which is logicall considering it's an alpha version. I will add that for most computers it seems to be a stable game…
