Exciting stuff! But the fact that you put in the leveling system sort of reminds me.. That while Morrowind is one of my favorite game of all times... One of the few Ive bothered completing at all.. And I completed it several times... I was only able to do it with the help of GCD. The seamless leveling mod. I assume mods for the old game won't work with OpenMW. So, have you all considered maybe building some of the more popular core gameplay mods into the game engine itself? As options of course.
Seamless leveling is my essential mod but I'm sure there are others that people just found they couldn't play the game without in the community.
Though I understand there is the issue of where to draw the line. Who get's their essentials and who doesn't. I just felt like I had to ask. I surely don't look forward to feeling like I need to min max and fear using certain skills at the wrong time again. lol
I'm happy to say that you are completely wrong in your vision of openMW :).
We are striving for a 100 procent compatibility with Morrowind, tribunal, bloodmoon and all mods made! besides this OpenMW will be able to sustain more in-depth modding of the game. Part of this will be done by our team for post 1.0 version (v1.0 is supposed to be a copy of Morrowind engine), and partly by a whole new modding community we are hoping for. OpenMW wiki has a big list of game mechanics which should be optimized, but first we are working on v1.0.
Sometimes its really great being wrong! ;) Looking forward to this even more now!
Hi what does this mod do? Idiot description required. ;)
This a Replacement Engine for Morrowind, intending to fix bugs and make it work better on modern systems. Eventually, extending on the game in ways that the original engine never could.
The original maker of the mod can describe it better than I can.

In the end you can just use your skills and it will automatically level you up, adjust your attributes based on what skills you raise and you can just play without worrying that your skill usage may ruin your character.
LoL I misunderstood it seems. I don't really think of OpenMW as a mod so I thought he was asking me. x.x
This is awesome! Keep on keeping on! I highly anticipate V1.0 :D
