Your nomade tribe of animals is constantly switching territories. Predatores never get a grip of you, for your speed and silent movement is unmachted. Rabbits are your favorite source of food, hunting them strategically, using multiple members of the pack to corner them always fills your bellies. But one faithful day, a mighty storm flowds all the precious rabbit burrows, leaving you foodless for days, just when your new litter was born… Maybe you should have chosen to live in the swamp and gnaw on frogs instead? Niche is a simulation/strategy/puzzle game mix about the biological topic of Population Genetics. Breed your animals based on real genetics and find your ecological niche in the world!

We finally came up with a longterm motivation for our game Niche!
After countless brainstorming sessions, spread over the duration of half a year, we decided on a setting: Islands. Inspired by Darwin's finches we send our animal species across the ocean and let them start their population on tiny "Tutorial island".

On this little island, the two start animals (Adam & Eve) can start expanding their family.
After a few generations have passed, a piece of driftwood lands at the shore. There is only space for a few animals. It's a hard decision which animals to take to the next island, though it's always possible to come back to the previous islands. The main goal of the game is to inhabit all islands that exist with your tribe.

Let's have some more islands shapes :D
