Tons of new features to play with in NVI v0.2! (Including a boss and more bug fixes!)
New features
- "loading assets" screen at beggining of game that also shows what is being loaded
- a ship color changing upgrade
- more effective health powerups
- a timer for how long you have an effect in the gui
- randomly created bg planets that spin and shrink into the distance
- event that increases spawn rate for enemies, black holes, and powerups
- event that increases amount of points it takes to get an upgrade
- pause screen has a darkened bg
- a new enemy; DEFENDER
- a new rare effect; ULTRA LASERS! It gives lasers 100 damage
- new types of powerup; score bonus, instant upgrade, and sheild
- playing field is now larger than the size of the monitor, but scales depending on the monitor
- added a new option dealing with how the view follows the player(s)
- each ship's stats are shown on the scoring screen
- added sheilds that protect the play from enemies until they are used up; their color and opacity are shown based on how much power the sheild has
- added more to the HOW TO PLAY menu
- a new enemy; SUPER DEFENDER; which has a regenerating sheild!
- some evolutions have a 50% chance not to appear
- added a boss!
Fixed bugs:
- fixed bug where the effect upgrade icons are drawn on top of each other
- fixed a bug where the tracking lasers icon was the same as the invincibility one
- fixed music_fire.ogg being too loud
- you can no longer lose an effect during the game being paused
- evolution messages can no longer get cut off, they instead move words to the next line
- super lasers now work correctly in versus
- fixed "setting the music to 0 only mutes the first track"
- fixed a bug causing upgrade caps not to work correctly
- fixed evolution messages showing rounded values with DAMAGE UP and PRECISION UP
Changed features:
- changed event timing somewhat
- health powerups are not picked up if at full health
- firing rate cap increased to four (8 lasers per second)
- super lasers now have a completely different graphic
- rebounding lasers work much better
- evolution messages dealing with scalable player attributes (rate, speed, etc.) now show rounded values
- black holes are now twice as rare as they were before
- lasers fired with an effect on the player will continue to show that effect even after the effect has worn off the player, i.e. a laser shot while the rebounding effect is in use will cause it to continue to rebound after the effect is no longer being used
- menu is now mouse controlled
- added more to "how to play"
- evolution message is less intrusive and doesn't pause the game, and also destroys all enemies on screen
- max health is now capped at 100
