How long can you survive the post-apocalyptic wastelands of NEO Scavenger? In the near-future, supernatural activity and human warfare have fragmented mankind into pockets of civilization struggling to survive in wild and dangerous lands. You awaken alone in an abandoned facility with no food nor water, and only a hospital gown and some mysterious items as clues to your identity. NEO Scavenger is a game where you must survive in the wasteland long enough to figure out who you are. Each turn you must decide where to go, how to scavenge for supplies, and how to deal with anything and anyone you encounter. And with each passing minute, the pit in your stomach grows, your dehydration worsens, your muscles tire, and your body temperature drops in the cold autumn air. Choose your starting abilities carefully, because they and your wit are the only tools you have in the apocalypse!

NEO Scavenger now has its first gameplay trailer!

It's my first trailer for a game, and I think it came out pretty well, actually. Not bad for my first foray into After Effects! It uses one of Josh Culler's excellent pieces composed for the game.

Showing NEO Scavenger gameplay is pretty tough, since there aren't many animations or explosions or anything to really "wow" the audience. Instead, I figured I could show the wide range of features through a short story, and highlight the game's mundane struggle to survive. It might not do much to tickle the lizard brain, but folks looking for deep gameplay and challenge might just see what they're looking for.

Be sure to pass it on to anyone who you think may enjoy it!

Downloadable Beta Build

I've also wrapped up the beta build into a downloadable .exe, similar to the demo build yesterday. It's Windows-only, for the moment, and comes as either an .exe or .zip file. Both are the same, just one wrapped in a .zip for those who prefer it. It doesn't require any install. It just runs by launching the .exe.

It should offer the ability to full-screen from the "View" menu, if you wish (or ctrl+f). As with the demo yesterday, if you give it a shot, let me know if you have any issues with it! I was able to play a bit, load/save, etc., so it seems to work ok. But if any troubles pop up, I'll try to get them sorted.

That's all for now. Have a good one!

"their fight felt like forever" agreedo, since new combat system, killing someone is matter of hours. I dod fight 5 different people for 30 minutes and some of them was bleeding from the start and noone (except me, from weariness) did die there.

I'll have to keep an eye on that. I think combat's lethality is fairly realistic given the in-game time passage, but respecting the player's time is more important. I may have to tweak combat to resolve a bit faster in future builds.

Thanks for the feedback!
