Demo - Phase 1

News 3 comments

Demo Phase 1 has started into production. I bet your wondering to yourself what that means, well let me tell you!The first demo of Mine Tycoon is a basic get to know the equipment and the basic game functions. As Mine Tycoon is focused around digging, we decided to start first with the Excavator.

We are including:

- 330B excavator with realistic controls
- Sounds for 330B
- Digging of voxel terrain and movement of said terrain
- skybox
- 2km by 2km area

Once we get the demo ready, in a couple weeks, we will let everyone know the controls. Our goal here is to prove we can do this with equipment, and then expand outwards into gameplay. But don't expect any gameplay until the Alpha launch, around June/July.

Phase 2 is where the actual fun begins when we add bulldozers and haul trucks. :)After the demo phase 1 launch, we are going to start taking pre-orders of Alpha for $10.00. This will help speed up development tremendously and make the game that much better.

Alpha Features:

All the equipment needed for gameplay, along with wash plants
Buildings added

Beta Features:

Multiplayer Support
Additional Equipment
Mobile Alert App Possible?

New Engine, New Ambition, New Goals

So its been 6 months, how is the game coming on or is it wasted promises. Looking at the comments people have left there is demand for this type of sim, if its lack of financial support then I'm sure most of us would have paid the $10 for the alpha version as mentioned in the summary.

Please could you give us some feedback even if its not going ahead, some news is better than no news.

I think It's time to accept the fact that the game is abandoned, no update for 7 months no feedback from the developer. Sucks... This game would have been great...

First off, REALLY impressed with what you've shown so far. How is the game coming along? I would like to see some news or videos or something, I would buy this instant and I know a fair share of people would do the same, just bring us some more news and updates! Good job man!

Take care.

I always wanted a great excavator game and this could be the one. Hope your game turns out fantastic and you make some serious $$. Just hope it isn't too small of a market, although games like Farming Simulator 2013, Euro Truck Sim 2, Space Engineers (sorta) are great examples of sims that have enjoyed a lot of success recently.

My only suggestion would be streamline those controls. Look at the above games and Minecraft for great controls that are so intuitive you don't even have to think about the keys you are pressing but instead thinking what do I want to do and your fingers know the keys to press. They are deceptively simple controls that allow pretty complex things to happen in the game, so very young people can play and more experienced people can still be challenged by the gameplay and not bad controls.

And looking at your joystick controls, getting a 360 controller to work with that scheme - there are probably millions of PC gamers with that controller but maybe not 2 joysticks to hook up to their computer. Perfect those controls and you have a lot of people interested.

Can't wait for preorders to open up!

Yes I agree, a 360 controller is more universal, its the only controller I use for gaming, and with the dual sticks it should replace the need for two joysticks surely, hope the feed back helps

Real excavator controls are simple enough as is; the main source of difficulty is from performing multiple actions at the same time and the way the real controllers respond. As such I feel that deviating from a real control pattern (rather it be ISO or SAE) would be very much unfavorable.

I do agree that Xbox and maybe PS3 controllers need to be supported, look at the way the tenstar digger demo handles it Tenstar-digger-demo.software.informer.com

Bulldozer controls should be fairly simple with a gamepad, triggers for steering (Would need to support a single axis), left stick for throttle/gear changes, right stick for blade controls. If graders are added they would be a source of more complexity and would probably need a simplified control scheme for gamepads, sticks with twist functionality would work fine as proven in real equipment by Cat's M series.
