Mindworld is a First Person Action Adventure Game developed with UDK. In January 2011, the project was started. The player gets into the role of Katherine Evans who suffers from depression and is looking for answers in her subconscious mind, which she enters via lucid dreaming. Throughout the adventure, the player has to collect clues, solve puzzles, fight enemies and overcome obstacles in a surreal dreamworld that slowly turns into a fearsome nightmare. Mindworld is divided into four chapters and offers multiple endings, which are influenced by the decisions the player makes during the gameplay.

Hey guys,

My name is Kjell Bunjes and I am the Team Leader & Art Director of the upcoming Action Adventure Mindworld: Shattered Dreams. The team consists of people who are either working professionally in the industry for years or are ambitious to do so. We are currently looking for a Concept Artist, who is capable of creating environmental art.

You can check the game's page with in-game screenshots right here: Moddb.com

Your task would be to develop full levels or big parts of it visually.

Here is just a little bit of the work that we have done:

The Mentor

Transition Level - (in-game)

Transition Level - (in-game)

The Chase - Concept Art

(by Adam Clark, Kevin Allen, Charvel Saligumba and Hugh Riegel)

Requirements:

• Strong foundation skills in digital art
• Strong skills in environmental art
• Strong composition skills
• Strong skills in creating certain moods/atmospheres
• Efficient workflow

Bonus:

• Skilled in Character Design
• Skilled in illustration work
• Strong presentation skills
• Interested in long-term work
• Skilled in Graphic Design

Our team currently consists of a core of 10 members and a total of ~20 members. The mod has been in production for almost 2 years now, so you can expect a solid project.

Your task:

The main task is going to be the development of various levels in the game. We are going to produce the required material for the level designers to do their job as good as possible. We are going to go through the full process of the concept design workflow from thumbnail sketches to fully detailed finished concept art for presentation.

Benefits:

You can work with us while simultanously concentrating on your daily job and/or other projects, as we offer highly flexible working times. Also, this position gives the great chance to work with an extremely dedicated team, as the project has never suffered from any stops in production. There is no risk that this project is going to die within the next few months or so, as the foundations are mainly built. While there are no monetary rewards, we offer the great chance to produce great portfolio material. The level designers we work with are highly experienced and are going to realize your concepts to your entire satisfaction. You are also going to get in-depth feedback for the designs and guidance throughout all the process of pre-production to make the vision of the game visible.

Your work is going to be presented in a professional manner in media updates and articles. Due to our good content, marketing and PR work, the project was within the final rounds for the Indie of the Year Awards 2011, aswell as the final rounds for the Mod of the Year Awards 2012. We also concentrate on creating a network to many people, which helped us to get high quality material from various people of the industry and chances to get featured in articles/interviews outside of ModDB.

Required time:

We do not expect a certain amount of hours from you, it is up to you, whether you invest an hour a day or 8 hours on the weekend. The only thing that matters for us is that you are reachable via e-mail, when important changes have to be made (e.g. assigning new tasks) and that you update us at least weekly.

We use our forums, DropBox, asana and Skype for the exchange of data and information. Further information can be given upon request.
