Source Code Feb. 12, 2011
Nov 6, 2011 Source Code 1 commentLatest version of the source code as of November 6, 2011.
The game can be downloaded here > Sourceforge.net and to play on multi-player servers the same version number should be used (latest available version)
The game and its creation is completely community driven and an active and welcoming forum can be found here > Manicdigger.sourceforge.net
Anyone is welcome to download and play, and anyone with sufficient knowledge and capability is welcome to offer input on how to go about improving the game. The source code is freely available to those that can dabble in such things, and I'm sure the creator of Manic Digger would welcome pro-active input.

The game is far from dead and those developing it are still very much active and involved, I myself have other things more pressing in my life, but don't let that stop you good folk from trying out what is still a fantastic game.
Again, I must state the versions which are available here on IndieDB are outdated and will be removed soon.
I must restate that current news is found mostly on the games homepage or forums:
for the nightly builds please download the latest versions from this repository:

If I had $1 for every minecraft clone.....
Actualy u would have -3$ since so far everygame has been based of Infinity Miner.
$3 doesn't buy much...
Thats a great project, great work and it is free :)
I'll be sure to contact 'exe' about the impending lawsuit and following investigation into a picture looking 'similar' to another. As for the ongoing flaming, well so be it, that's just a sad fact of the internet. I for one entirely believe in this project and will continue to support 'exe' or any other coder that decides to work on it.
hey, I'm just saying it's similar. I shall state, I am not a fanboy. I am merely showing it's origins ORIGINALLY was a minecraft rip, due to the actual resources in both games.
while I know minecraft was inspired by infiniminer, it seems moreso to be it's spiritual successor, like how portal was to narbacular drop. while this is not a spiritual successor.
I too hope it does get more defined, and I too see how people are being fanboys about all cube games in existence. however, I was merely explaining how and why it is seen badly. nothing more, nothing less. I'm not looking for any kind of war here.
That us a fair point, though the origins are not a Minecraft rip. The two games come from the same opensource freeware. There is no ripping involved. The main difference is that Minecraft charges you for it. Manicdigger was originally built to be a Minecraft server, to helpp, but has since deviated into a standalone.
There are dozens of texture packs available, perhaps they'll do a different one to come with the download, and we've already requested this. would you like to help?
the issue there, is the original minecraft used was in java, not C++, or whatever this is in.
furthermore, there were three blocks in the first test. the grass block. dirt block and the stone block. this however did not include TNT, which wasn't added until 5 months and fourteen days after the initial test was released. (see Minecraftwiki.net for full history of releases)
I know for a fact, nothing was really copied coding-wise, as they're two different engines. However, the origins certainly seemed, and still do seem to spell out an attempt to make a free Minecraft version. I do hope that it will not be a complete clone, but to put the texture down to open source really just isn't true.
As for a custom Minecraft server, I can see that as a plausibility. It could have been why. But it's deviancy into a game seemed to spell out that it was just a rip, hence why people flame this game.
Well, we're getting the Minecarts fixed and Ol' Joe has put another 6 hours in tonight on his custom texture pack (with a little creative direction).
Is there anything you can help them with? :)
not really, no. my specialty is mapping, story creation and texturing, and the latter is currently being used to create 200~ images for a flash animation. The only advice I could offer is, say manic digger was a minecraft server utility, converted into a full game. and just try to make it different. This will stop most flaming if it is explained.
I came to the page, seeing a complete ripoff. while that vision isn't exactly erased upon my return to the Minecraft page on ModDB I run, it has opened my eyes to a potential purpose this program had, which seems to be morally acceptable. but it then grew sentient to it's own game, hence confusing the lines of sever and game.
Such an explanation, if it is true, would definitely let me see manic digger, not in a thieving ripoff light, but in a way where redundancy made the server program turn itself into a game.
