Congratulations on your first ship, Captain! Now you’re ready to venture out in to the solar system. This ship is your home, your livelihood, and your biggest asset. Use it to make as much money as possible.
If you’re going to trade in the big leagues though, you’ll eventually need a bigger ship with a bigger hold; it might be time to start saving up for a down payment.
The solar system is a huge place, and it can take months (or years) to travel between the different settlements. Since the costs of running your ship will add up quickly, you’ll need to plan your trade routes carefully to stay out of the red.
In space though, trade routes don’t last: as the planets transit around the sun, the pattern of profitable routes constantly shifts.
Trading is how you build your wealth. Each planet in the system has its own economy. To maximize your profits, you’ll need to learn where goods are produced and where they are needed the most.
It takes a lot of money upfront to load up your cargo hold. If you want to stay out of debt (and avoid paying high credit interest), you’ll need to keep cash on hand.
As you build your fortune, you’ll need to put your money to work. Invest in stock, bond, and gold indexes to build wealth and generate passive income. Investing can still be risky, so you’ll need to pay close attention to your portfolio. Eventually, your investments might even make you more money than trading.
If you manage your investments well, one day you’ll be able to afford a permit to live somewhere nice, like Ganymede, Mars, or maybe even Earth.
I'm happy to announce that Limitless Fortune is back on Steam Greenlight! Watch the new trailer here:
The game is currently out for iOS, but I want to make sure that the PC/Mac version of the game takes advantage of the larger screen and different input methods. If you like what you see, please take a moment to give it a thumbs up!
I anticipate being able to release fairly quickly after it gets through Greenlight, and I'm planning for a sub $5 price point.
My initial post on Greenlight included videos and screenshots where game assets (spaceships, planets, etc), were just not displaying very clearly. I've taken some time to overhaul how all of the assets in Limitless Fortune render on screen (it ended up being one line of code...), and am happy to announce that we are back in business.
In other development news, I have continued to make some progress in cleaning up the user interface and making sure that everything is smooth and usable. I've also rearranged things to help highlight your ship and some of the other more interesting art assets. The current Greenlight videos and screenshots reflect this. More changes coming as I continue to piece things together, so now is the time to share your thoughts!
The build is running pretty well right now on both PC and Mac, so I'm hoping for a simultaneous release on both platforms. Currently running into some odd performance problems on the Mac build, but should have things sorted out shortly.
Thanks for all your support, and I hope you're as excited about Limitless Fortune as I am! Feel free to follow ZB App Studio on Twitter for more frequent updates.
