Legacy is a rogue-like, procedurally generated, open world, character driven RPG. You play a character of your creation within the world until that unavoidable day comes in which he or she is no more, at this point you will create a new character, a descendant! This new character can be any race, or half race, that you have unlocked through romancing with previous characters, s/he will inherit certain traits of your previous characters as well as gaining the social status of being a child of your previous character. The world will change over this time as well, old friends will die, new enemies will arise, factions will war, the terrain will change, and the world in which your new character embraces may be but a shell of the world you once knew. If you failed to save a kingdom from destruction, be prepared to find the ruins of a once great city in it's place, if you succeeded in bringing a man of greed to power, be prepared to pay the consequences of creating a new dictatorship i

Post news Report RSS Legacy: Updates to Combat

Hey guys, I've been working around the clock lately taking in feedback and reworking the combat to be more awesome. This latest video is not a developer diary but just a short little montage of me fighting the updated enemy. This combat will be included in the updated release of the demo which I would like to get out within 24 hours or so.

Hey guys, I've been working around the clock lately taking in feedback and reworking the combat to be more awesome. This latest video is not a developer diary but just a short little montage of me fighting the updated enemy. This combat will be included in the updated release of the demo which I would like to get out within 24 hours or so.

Anyway, I'll just quickly run down in text what's been updated. (Also going over dev diary 5 info):
Combat Pacing: The combat animations have essentially been sped up 25%, this really brings up the pace of combat but you can definitely still parry if you focus.
Backswing Direction: You no longer are required to pick a backswing direction, but you definitely can! This has improved combat flow drastically, this way, when you click you will attack no matter what, and if you move your mouse in a specific direction when you first click your character will backswing in that direction (so more advanced players can still parry and clash but it is more approachable to beginners).
No Lock-on: I've removed lock on for two reasons, 1) Since you can no longer change your backswing direction once you've swung there is no need to be locked on, 2) It adds more skill to aiming your attacks on an evading enemy.
AI that isn't totally terrible: The AI will no longer relentlessly chase you and stand in your face, depending on how much health and stamina he has, he will try to move around or avoid you. It's obviously still very basic and probably won't get much better until Javier programs it.

And here is the video :) ...

It would also mean a lot to us if you could share this on Facebook , Twitter , and.. submit to reddit
Thank-you from the bottom of my game developing heart!
