The Chosen Bundle

News 13 comments

Selected by our fans; The Chosen Bundle from Indie Royale is a second chance to get the games from last year's popular St. Patrick's Day Bundle. Over 1500 people voted in our poll with St. Patrick's winning in a close vote over The Difficult Second Bundle.

There are 5 games featured in this fantastic bundle, which together are valued at over $40, and the bundle starts shipping at just $2.99!

Leading the Chosen Bundle is Hard Reset from Poland's Flying Wild Hog. Hard Reset is an action-packed, single-player shooter for the PC. Set in a cyberpunk city, Hard Reset emphasizes over-the-top destruction and gives you a huge variety of weapons to dispatch hordes of enemies. The Extended Edition is available from Steam or the regular game is on Desura & DRM-Free. You also get an artbook and the OST (mp3 & FLAC). The Extended Edition was released in July 2012 and is different to the version in the original St. Patrick's Day Bundle. Kotaku called Hard Reset "a sexy, cyberpunk shooter".

Next in the line-up of the Chosen Bundle is Jolly Rover from Australia's Brawsome. Jolly Rover is an original 2D point and click adventure game. Players follow the short and stubby tail of canine protagonist Gaius James Rover across three wild and untamed tropical islands, as he attempts to fulfil his dream of starting a circus, hampered only by pirates, villains, voodoo, love and considerable lack of loot. Jolly Rover is available for PC & Mac on Steam, Desura & DRM-Free with the OST. GameSpot reviewed it with the comment that "Jolly Rover is a swashbuckling canine adventure full of colourful characters and plenty of laughs."

Vertex Dispenser comes from one man game maker Michael Brough in the UK. Vertex Dispenser is a fast-paced abstract strategy game with mathematical puzzle elements. Wrestle for control of territory on bizarre geometric worlds. Carefully plan your conquests to maximise the colours of your vertices, capture solid faces to defend them, then eradicate your enemies with a variety of special attacks. Eurogamer said Vertex Dispenser is "a concentrated dose of twisted real-time strategy". We've got it on PC & Mac from Steam. It also comes with the Vertex Vortex Remix DLC and the Boss Fight DLC.

The next game in this bundle is DLC Quest from Canada's Going Loud Studios, available for Windows from Desura & DRM-free with a Mac version too. With DLC Quest, the developer has made a game that mocks the games industry and its foibles! Defeat the bad guy, save the world and get the girl! But first you'll need to find coins to buy DLC to enable animation, sound and even pausing. DLC Quest won Official Xbox Magazine's Xbox LIVE Indie Game of the Year 2011. DLC Quest is coming to Steam soon.

Finally we have another game from Going Loud Studios; Lair Of The Evildoer in which the evil Dr. Odious has you trapped high in his lair. He's also not very fond of you. Make your escape by battling through hundreds of monsters, collecting over 25 weapons and leveling up as you go. Procedurally generated levels will keep you on your toes in this action RPG shooter! It's available on PC from Desura & DRM-Free.

Those who pay $8 USD or their currency equivalent during the Chosen Bundle will get Daniel Capo's O.S.T: Original Soundtrack. The album takes inspiration from early NES game soundtracks, with Daniel describing it as "a reflection on my favorite childhood memories". This album is available in MP3 and FLAC format.

You can find more information on the Chosen Bundle, including real-time statistics and its current price, on its official website or via its Facebook, Twitter and Google+ pages. Grab this bundle now while the price is still low (unless kind purchasers lower the price) so that you'll have hours of specially chosen indie gaming to look forward to!

Very enjoyable game, my only complaint is the level cap of 30. Endless mode is great but I enjoyed playing to level at that point. when i hit level 30 i couldn't level anymore and lost the impulse to continue playing; that sense of accomplishment was gone. would be nice if that level cap was either raised or taken away completely.

Great game, but I have a few recommendations. First of all, it's way too easy. I had a few moments when I was getting killed, but it felt like death had no consequence since I could just restart the level. The final boss was kind of pathetic; I expected it to be at least a little bit challenging, but it wasn't.

It would be great if you added a harder difficulty mode, and maybe even a 'roguelike' option that features permadeath.

There seems to be a lot of potential for more content and features for this game, and I hope you intend to update it, or make a more ambitious sequel. It's obviously worth the $2 - I wouldn't mind paying more for a more fleshed out experience.

The isntaller seems to have an issue, it says it is isntalling XNA 4.0 but it never did instead it installed .NET framework 4.xx and skipped the XNA Framework Redistributable thus giving the error i posted above.

Solution after installign the game (verifying the game had no solution it didnt even verify the files it seemed) grab XNA Framework Redistributable from here: Microsoft.com

Works for Windows Xp, Vista and 7
