Welcome to your ultimate nightmare:
"You`re Peter "Pete" O`Brannon, a Private Eye. Sounds faszinating? It isn`t, trust me - unless you find it exciting to hunt down cheating husbands and lost dogs while living of cheap Chinese food in shabby motels. THAT would be what Petes job is all about - but luckily for him, he has a good customer paying his bills. It`s GlobalSecure Inc., one of the biggest insurance companies on the East Coast. More exactely, it`s Samantha "Sam" Miller who runs their investigation departement on insurance fraud. She`s tough, she`s intelligent, she`s better than Pete. By far better. But due to the companies Code of Conduct and some very nasty ethic rules, she`s prevented from taking, erm, "semi-legal" steps to gain essential information and proofs. That`s where Pete steps in - for 500 bucks per day + expenses + a nice 20% share of the money the company saves with whatever Pete finds out.
Into the Dark is a playable B-Movie, a trash Experience composed out of 60% humour, 30% horror and 10% technical flaws. Enjoy!
This game is based upon the winning entry of the scariest game competition on TGC:
The first release on Gamersgate and as boxed retail product was 30th of October 2012

Let´s face the truth: It´s very hard for an Indie to get proper media coverage, especially if you don´t have huge kickstarter campaigns running or some really famous game designer or brand associated with your game. So everytime a big site or even a print magazine covers Into the Dark, we are quite excited. And when we heard that Romanians Big One "Level" has featured us in a 2-pages special, we were curious - and got hold of the pages writing about us.

As we don´t understand Romanian, our first try was running the text through google translate, at start we tried a jump from Romanian into German. The result was very amusing, but gave us no real clue if they believe our trahsy B-movie gaming experience is an entertaining approach or the worst game since Ataris E.T. adaption in the early 80ies. So we tried Romanian to English, and were quite surprised that Level actually compared "Into the Dark" to "Farcry Blood Dragon". But, honestly, we still didn`t get much out of the words puzzled together with Google translator.
However, Mikey aka kn21, Romanian member of our team, did the final and finally working translation. And hell, yes, we were actually compared to Blood Dragon, and came out as being the more authentic Trash because of our lack of budget. But, more important, Level has came to the final verdict:

Well, this gives us a huge motivation boost for Into the Dark 2, aka "Into the Ice". And we thought about a special deal, starting in a few hours.

I would have prefered giving Feedback to the developers on their page, but the games installer points to IndieDB, so it`s gonna be somehow public: Although I`m pretty proud that this one is from Austria, obviously not far from here, I`ll stick to facts and spare the patriotism influence. I bought this game because of the report on Austrian TV, so I knew what I had to expect - Trash, Zombies, B-Movie-Style. I love that, so I gave it a try. And the game delivers exactly what it promises: Trash, B-Movie…

If you made a Linux version, I'd buy this. And then play the hell out of it.

No. During the past half year, only 10-30 people played the multiplayer games we delivered with the boxed version. The conclusion was to skip it and to enhance the single player campaign.
Nooooooooooooooo
I fail to see how you can compare any of the abymsal "Slenderman" games to this, considering that each one of them is merely a few minute long minigame which repeats itself all the time. It's not scary, there's no substance to it and it's always the same thing, exception being the map.
That would be totally fine if the gameplay itself would justify playing it over and over again, similiar to just about every multiplayer game - but it doesn't. There's no "Insert coin" effect to it at all, play one game / map and you know 'em all.
For the 20$ you pay for Into the Dark you get a whole, actual game - puzzles, gunfights and hilarious / weird moments.
...and honestly, it's not a developers fault when players are too eager to play a game and forget about manuals - back in the day, most games didn't have any ingame tutorials like nowadays and we still managed to learn how to play a game. They're no necessity.
Paying 7$ for any "Slenderman" game is already 7$ too much, in my opinion... but I may be biased as, to me, "Slenderman" is one of the most laughable "inventions" in the horror genre that I have ever witnessed.
This game, however, is laughable for good reasons instead. :)
The game comes with a short quickstart guide and a full manual and in there is described everything you need (and obviously missed).
I agree that 20$ is pretty much, it will be cheaper here on desura. But there is 200 - 400% more content inside compared to SMS, too.
