As you know, we have to work for a living and of course for getting the bills paid for our Indie games. Luckily there are sometimes projects that are both interesting and fair-payed. This here is from
"Bahngigant" aka "Train Giant"
which will be released soon worldwide. Looks familiar? It should! It`s the legendary
A-Train 9
which was so far only available in Japan and China, now thew German Publisher UIG is putting out an International Version and I got assigned some Producing tasks that turned out to include even game design tasks. Yiha!
Right now I`m creating a "Greece" Scenario where you have to save the shaken nation from bankruptcy. Not an easy quest! (And before anyone asks, I *AM* allowed to tell about my work, no nasty NDA attached *g* )
Here you can take a look at my current work in the games editor (which will be shippped with the game, so you can create all the scenarios you want to create):
Yes, it is fun. As work on a great game always is. But now back to our prime rib, back to
Into The Dark
I was really worried about the "look & feel" of the work places in the "drones room", the hall where the paperwork clerks were doing their duty when the facility was still active. Basically it looked like that:
I didn`t like that one. Not at all. But I couldn`t get a quite good Inspiration. But then I remembered watching a great TV Show some time ago when I lay sick in my bed for days. It was "Better off Ted" and you can look up the details there:
And watched some eisodes again. And there it was! Now I imagined transforming the very modern and polished workplaces there into a more shady or grungy and of course more OLDER environment - replacing plastic with wood - and gave some more pitches on that. Here`s the next version, not a final one, but it`s getting better:
Getting there. Slowly but steady...
Ah yes! nice to see this thing evolve. Just dont fall asleep working on that trainthing, we want "into the dark" !!
