INT is a roguelike Sci-Fi RPG with a heavy focus on exploration, dungeon crawling, character customization and story, brought to you by indie enthusiasts. The focus is on the character’s journey through a war-torn world through randomized and pre-set levels with fast-paced combat against hordes of enemies. The player must accomplish quests like a traditional RPG, complete objectives, and meet crew members which will aid in survival. Throughout the game you can side and complete missions through criminal cartels, and the two major combatants, the UCE and ACP, of the Interstellar Civil War.

Hello, my name is Wayne, and I’m the sound lead for INT!
Before I get started on any actual updates, let me introduce myself and my fellow cool noise-ateer:

Wayne is our lead for audio. He is 34 years old and lives in the UK. His 19 years of experience in writing and producing music all started when his father brought home an Atari ST FM, equipped with a monochrome monitor and a copy of Cubase 3.1. At the age of 16 he was playing the keyboard in bands, doing gigs in various London venues, some of them famous including, The Mean Fiddler and the Orange Club. His band even managed to get to the last 5 out of 5000 bands on Raw 94 Battle of the Bands. He soon became an apprentice where he learned the dark arts of electricity, leading him to his current employment. At the age of 22, Wayne started joining Modding groups and worked on Mods such as Shattered Faith(BF2), Desert Con(BF2), Iron Grip and others, which helped him gain experience and skills that utilizes in INT today.

Matthew Calvert is 23 and has a degree in making amazing sounds. Matthew is an extremely gifted and hard-working sound designer who absolutely loves his work, making him an asset for the team. Matthew will be working exclusively on sound design for INT.

From the beginning, we have narrowed down the sound to be a sort of mix between your typically synth-heavy Sci-Fi music and blues-y, down home country. To sort of get an idea of what kind of instruments you will be hearing in the game proper, look no further than the staples of typically synth-heavy anthems (synths, pads, and arpeggios), as well as your simple country instruments (guitars, violins, and the like).

As for the sound design, since it is pretty early on in the development phase, we have been mostly working out what sounds will be needed and where: What will the cars of the future sound like whizzing by? What will the weapons sound like? If you were to stand out in the streets of our new world, what would you hear? Not only has it been fun to try and nail down these sounds, it has also been enlightening. Matthew and I have been hard at work creating these sounds and learning how to better approach the challenges we continue to face.

As of now, we’re not entirely ready to show off some of the awesome sounds we’ve managed to create. But you can be sure to expect them in our next update!
