We, Rice, are proud to present our newest game, a hardcore platformer that will push your skills to the limit (Release Trailer). You are a 2D square named Squarey, and have decided to trek to different parts of the 2 dimensional world. He will ask you to guide him to the door that leads to the next location, and you need to make sure he gets to the door without falling to his death or running into blocks of heated lava! Metal poles of immense weight are also dropping and rising out of nowhere, and various obstacles and platforms stand in Squarey's way of reaching the other side of the world - help him out! This game has tight levels and each one only gets progressively more difficult. Show us your skills by completing over 20 difficult levels and a wide variety of areas and level design! You only get one life per run, and need to make sure that you get as far as you can!
I can smell potential in the game, and it does a decent job of representing itself on its own right now. I'd say that the levels are fun to play, but a bit tricky since the difficulty spikes are too massive (even for the first world), and I felt that the physics behind the character's movements were not really effective in this kind of game. Also, fixing the audio by adding a mute button would be nice!
Overall though, I really like the art since it's really simple and nice to look at, and the music itself is quite interesting. I also think that the idea is nice and if you could fix the small flaws, this game would be a 9/10.
Wow, the final version's definitely an improvement, especially with the art style being so much more appealing to the eyes than before. Also, the character physics and the spike blocks feel much more balanced out now, so like I said... I'm giving this game a 9!
