To integrate realism the animation of death, we used the well-known technique of ragdoll. Each body part of the character (arms, legs, head) is converted into dynamic objects that independently interact with its environment. But obviously these objects are bound together by links in the elbows, knees and neck. This way, we obtain a body without rigor mortis :)
We really wanted a realistic death in all circumstances, as when we see the character’s teeth scraping the pavement when he eats the ground! There we have a feeling of violence in the shocks.
