Description

We're providing our GDC press build as a playable release for all fans of Grave! Get an early taste of some of the Grave gameplay!

This build supports Oculus Rift, Xbox 360 controller and keyboard and mouse controls. The demo shows a section of open world with procedural location spawning, as well as an introductory phase and combat with multiple creature types. This is only a taste of what is in store for the game. We really appreciate you checking it out!

To help support Grave, pledge on Kickstarter or vote for us on Steam Greenlight:
Kickstarter: Kickstarter.com Greenlight: Steamcommunity.com

We strongly encourage anyone who is interested to make a Let's Play Video! We only ask that you please link our Kickstarter. It will help us greatly to build the game into a full release.

SYSTEM SPECS:
We don't have exact system specs at this time, but we suggest at least an Intel Dual Core processor, 2 GB of RAM and ideally an Nvidia Geforce 9700 or better. The game performs best.

WARNING: There are currently some inconsistent visual effects when using Radeon video cards. This should be corrected in the next update.

Please contact us if you have performance issues, it will help us to benchmark in the future and make corrections.

NOTE: The next version will feature matches that do NOT last forever, in case you were worried! :)

We'll look into that. It shouldn't require 64 bit to run, and it's build for 32 bit now. One issue may be that it's just a simple zip file and isn't bundled with a DirectX installer. I would suggest making sure you have the latest DirectX End-User Runtime download. That may help

I played it for what I could do. instructions came in handy tho I suggest you make the crouching button toggle the left ctrl button, but I had no problem with it as control wise. apparently you have two things set up for the mouse1 and mouse2 button. you have the zoom in and out and "attack" or throw a match at the same time. I played a bit with it and if I accidentally zoomed in, I had to throw some matches to the ground to zoom out again. no biggie. I don't have a high-end pc or laptop so I had to run on minnimum specs, but for what I could see. it looks fantastic. I ran into a little bug that the first time I got killed by the monster, I was instantly killed 3 more times right after I came back to the checkpoint. Other than change some controllers and check that, loved it. I'll keep an eye for this. :thumbs up:

Thanks for pointing out some of the control issues. There's a few things that we're just polishing and improving right now, so our next version won't have those issues.

We allowed a quick respawn for players in the demo, and it was a bit flawed. The way that will work in the final game is the time will proceed to day, and you will lose some of your inventory items.

We may actually patch the demo to work this way, it will probably be a better solution to be honest. We're working on a number of elements and it would probably benefit us to move that more in the direction of the final release.

Awesome, thanks for playing! We're finding the balance, right now I think the game is a bit on the hard side. We'll keep tuning to find the right spot for difficulty!

Watched about 6 minutes (Will watch the rest) of the youtube gameplay of your game and it looks great. Idk but it does look like you're using the Ruined City pack from unity a bit but it disappears so fast. The hand model does look good when holding a match. When you're walking thru a tunnel you have that wind effect coming across the screen, which is kinda weird. In the 6 minutes i watched I didn't see any "Monsters" though maybe they should appear more idk. I think the items that can be picked up and used shouldn't be floating though. All in All it looks good. I will finish the gameplay video and come back with another review.

Yeah, we used a couple of Asset packs as placeholders to get the content out there, in addition to our modeling efforts. The monsters are a bit further in, in true horror movie format we wanted to start out slow. :)

We're looking to redo a our creatures once we have the budget to move forward with it. It's been difficult so far because we need to pay a character modeler to work on those and we haven't had the resources to do so. We plan to make improvements soon.

Yes! There are a lot of mysteries in the world of grave, and they will become a lot more present as the experience progresses. There's a few hints at the weirder stuff in the demo, but much more is coming soon!

are the big white lights on the plants meant to be there? or is my computer messing up?, i imagine its not meant to be like that because it even gets in the way of the menu so it could be a potential glitch?? also not a fan of motion blur. the game is really clever though and has some real interesting ideas

That's a bug we hadn't anticipated prior to launch. It has to do with compatibility issues. Some users have corrected this by making sure their graphics card drivers were up to date. What are your system specs?

We've had a delay in getting the mac demo out! I really would like to get it done very soon, we'd just had a hard time with it due to a lack of Mac hardware for testing. I'll try to get it finalized soon!

It's good for a demo, the ambiance is great, the graphics are pretty good, but there is some bugs, like the light effect in the mine in the beginning or when a monster kill you, you slide on the ground, but it's impressive, I've suggested the demo to Markiplier
Oh and I've made a french gameplay Youtu.be

Awesome thank you! We have identified a few glitches like what you mentioned and intend to have the majority fixed by our next update. It was tricky because our engineer has a day job and I've had to fix a lot of bugs in my designer fashion, which may not be always ideal.
