Glasswinged Ascension is built around cyberpunk theme permeated with avoidance, caution, and story telling. It is truly hardcore, and consists of missions which can be completed in different ways. There is no straight path to the goal, while means to achieve it do not have to be lethal.
This hardcore game doesn't give much room for mistakes, and there is only one checkpoint on each mission - in its very beginning. Stealth and caution are your best friends here, and there are number of things you should be aware of to improve your chances of successful play through.
All enemies, no matter living or unmanned, have two main senses: sight and audition. Sight works only in front of enemy, and depends on how well the environment is lit. If you'll manage to turn off the lights, enemies' sight range in the dark room will be reduced by 50%. But don't think this will give you much freedom of movement right away. Enemies can still hear you, and this works both in front and behind the enemy, no matter how well the environment is lit. If you want to walk around without producing loud sounds, you should assume the sneaking stance, but this will decrease your movement speed dramatically. Also, keep in mind that protagonist's footsteps are not the only things that produce sounds. Opening a door, using a terminal, activating a blast charge, firing unsuppressed weapon like a rifle will draw enemies' attention if they are close enough to the sound source. The only thing that blocks the sight and audition completely is a thick solid obstacle, like wall or closed door.
Now, when you know how exactly enemy senses work, you have more chances to avoid detection and proceed safely. And if you are not used to determine enemies' behaviour on fly, you can toggle the senses indication by pressing corresponding button in the top right corner of the screen any time.
