We’ve recently began creating regular video updates detailing the production and features of Gears of Eden, to hopefully give you a unique look at our game that wouldn't be possible through a blog post and image. Case and point: we’d have never been able to cover the topic of this week’s video, our camera systems and how they function, with words alone!
In this video, we review the five camera modes in Gears of Eden’s upcoming first public alpha release. These modes include:
- Default chase camera. The standard 3rd person adventure game camera that follows from behind and above your rover.
- Global chase camera. Similar to the first camera, but aligned to a global axis instead of a local character axis.
- Orbit camera. Works with the first two modes above, and lets players orbit the camera around their character. It will stay where released until reset.
- 1st person camera. See the world through the eyes of your mechanical character.
- Cinematic camera. Position the camera however you like, while you control your character independently at the same time.
