The Crucible is a mini-game set in the larger universe of our forthcoming game, Galaxy in Flames ("GiF"). It is one of many mini-games to come, borrowing early elements of the lore, design, and art assets of our main project. We consider The Crucible to be a thank you to the fans who have followed us thus far, and a greeting to those just arriving!

The release of The Crucible marks our first public step in revealing our grand-scale 4xRTS Galaxy in Flames. Built in the vein of the Homeworld series and layered with the strategic gaming of classics like Master of Orion and Pax Imperia, GiF is a project large in scope and ambition, and our team is already deep into its development. To help advertise for it, we'll be releasing a series of mini-games during the development process. Each is a modern remake of a classic with some added twists and features. We are developing everything in Unity3D FREE until we secure funding for the Pro version.

We are looking for additional team members and accepting applications. Please know that we are currently operating with NO money and everything is being developed using free tools. However, all team members are partners in the company and will receive fair shares of its profits.

We hope you'll spread the word and help us create the next great RTS!

why the exe for a linux version? unity supports publishing a linux executable, or are you not on unity4?

native would be much better than having users be required to setup and use wine

When building for Linux in Unity4 it creates a .exe

I have built it 3 times. Try changing the extension to .bin manually.

that's strange, removed the extension, set it to a executable, and then it ran file. from the terminal log, appears to be the native one too.

that's weird it's doing that, when I was exporting to linux in unity4, it created a extensionless (at least it looked like) linux executable that ran immediately and wasn't a exe.

thanks for the help!

Did you have "show known file extensions" on? Also did you build from Unity inside Linux or from Windows?

Ours was built in Unity from Windows as I do the compiling and do not run Linux but am pretty familiar with it.

I built the Linux version on Windows (VM, don't like Linux has a SDK for Unity yet), and yes file extensions were on, and I looked at it on Linux as well.

When looking at it, the extensions were .x86 and .x86_64

Try this.

"On Linux you give the file executable permissions. It isn't the extension that determines whether or not it can be executed (as on windows.)

Assuming you have a valid file that can be executed in Linux, (not a windows/dos file) do this:

cd abc
chmod a+x info.exe
./info.exe
Note that you need the leading ./ for the shell to find the file in the current directory!"
