In order to celebrate the first Official release of the demo and Alpha of our game, Fortis Rex Rise Of The King on Desura, we'd like to show you guys some actual in-game screenshots of the newly developed City Of Tarra and the Sea Gate on the outside of the City Of Nelson, plus some more information on the background of these two cities.
Tarra is the oldest city in the game world. It has a thriving economy with four main merchants and thousands of inhabitants, most living in the massive castle at Tarra. The city is fully explorable, with houses that can be entered in real time(the game world is one continuous level). There are also mines and tunnels underneath Tarra that can be explored. One never knows what dangers or treasures they may find in the mines of Tarra...
For centuries Tarra has traded with Entholm. Tarra is the largest producer of spices and food in the land, and Entholm has very little food production, as it is situated on top of cliffs and a gigantic mountain. However, Entholm produces tons of various Ores and hundreds of raw gems per year, and this is what they trade with Tarra for food. Usually, gems and ores would generate thousands of tons of food, but the exchange rate between Tarra and Entholm is considerably more generous in the favor of Tarra.
The Empire, situated in the city of Algoth in the Highlands Of The Empire, have dominated Entholm for over two hundred years. Recently Entholm has started a war of independence with the Empire, and has lost many of their mines to the forces of the Emperor...
This is the Sea Gate on the east of the City Of Nelson. It has defended the coasts of Nelson for almost 400 years, after the Emperor attacked the City Of Nelson with dozens of Imperial Dragon Ships(in picture one). It is rumored that the Emperor sold his soul for wealth and power, and that the reason he attacked Nelson is because he knew that Lord Nelson would not stand for his corruption and poor treatment of the people. It is also rumored that the Emperor is still alive...
In the light of recent advancements, the City Of Nelson is under more of a threat than ever, as rifled cannons have been placed on the Emperors Dragon Ships, which could crumble the walls of Nelson, but the Imperial Forces would still have an extremely difficult time defeating the defending forces of Nelson, as the descendents of Lord Nelson are very tactical minded and intelligent...
This is the aerial view of Tarra, highlighting the merchant locations. Tarra sells weapons, shields, armor, horses and general goods, but the biggest output of Tarra is food and spices, which are in abundant supply.
There are many merchants spread throughout the land, selling a gigantic variety of items, from guns to swords and Ores and gems to food and spices. The barter menu has buttons for buying one item, ten items, or all items, in case you want to buy arrows or bullets. You can also sell one, ten, or all of a particular type of item, if you have a lot of loot that you got from defeated demons. You can sort items by type to make everything easier and cleaner and more orderly.
This is a map of the different types and sizes of villages in Fortis Rex Rise Of The King. Villages range in size from small to gigantic, and from farming to mining, and some even have walls that are actively used to defend against demons, bandits and opposing factions. The descriptions of the villages are in the lower left hand corner of the map, there are Medieval, Technological and Viking villages, Green, Blue, and Yellow, respectively. Download the picture and zoom in to get a closer look, as this is a very big game world(10 + real world miles(16.09 KM)).
Woooo! That was a big update, and now we have the pleasure of presenting our game on Desura for the first time! We're very excited about it. The arena demo is an early demo presenting our previous dialogue system(with no dialogue animation or sound), and a primitive(but still fun) combat system.
Our First Alpha is much larger than the Arena Demo: there is one merchant to trade with, one NPC to get one quest from(defeat bandits), several places to explore, and several enemies to fight. You can also build your army from peasants to knights! Check it out on Desura, here's a cool pic that we actually use on Desura:
Our Second Alpha will be out in August on Desura, so pre-purchase while in Alpha now to help us develop the game(those studio expenses are expensive!) :D
Long awaited update! Can't wait for a download :)
Thank you for your support! We've got our free demo on Desura :), Indiedb.com
