We've been gone for a very long time. We're back though to bring updates to our website and to talk about what has been happening. The updates were good, but the news is a mixed bag. Let's dig into our last Final Horizon update...

The Cancellation

As of a few months ago we decided to bring an end to the game that fueled our creation. Final Horizon was something that we loved dearly and it was something we put many hours of work into. During its development we didn't really know the difference between something that we could tackle with ease and something that would explode in our face with acid. The latter is what happened.

We finally realized the scale of our project. We also realized how many times we had failed at trying to deliver what we wished for. All of the changes made to the game over the past few years were to help make the project a bit easier to take on, but we just couldn't see what was too big. We failed ourselves and our community. We failed at giving you all what we had hoped for. We are very sorry.

We realize that failures happen. They play a large part in the learning curve of, well... anything. We were unlucky that we took too long to realize our mistakes. Final Horizon was the idea that fueled our creation and taught us of failure and we hope that we can learn from it. We will also say that in the future we may revive the project when we feel ready to take it on once more.

The Future

After we ended our project we took some time off. We collected our thoughts and were truthfully reluctant to begin something new. We saw that the failures we experienced could be used to teach us, so we used that knowledge and began anew.

This new project won't become too large, nor will it suffer from any of the problems Final Horizon did. We hope to see the new universe come to fruition and survive. The lessons we have learned will be put to good use in this new project and we can't wait to show it to you all!

The Moddb/Indiedb page will be removed come this Friday as we prepare to reveal our new universe. We hope to see all of you when the reveal comes and we hope that this new universe is something that you will enjoy as much as we do! Things are changing for the better and we hope to see all of you at the forefront of our new adventures!

That is it and this is the end. Thank you.

We switched to Unity a few months back. We wanted to let people be able to play the game without needing a high-end computer. With that said, we will be removing all of the CryEngine 3 related things soon.

Final Horizon wasn't planned to be a Cel-Shaded project, though it may seem like it through the concepts to some. We wanted to give kind of a realistic feel to the models and environments from the beginning and you'll be seeing some of those soon. We do appreciate the notice though. Just wanted to clarify =)

Also to note, We are still alive and have some big things up our sleeves that we are going to be showing off soon!
