In a proud and thriving city-state, a prince lives a lavish and productive life under his emperor, who has ruled his land and people justly; The people love them for this and peace reigns. Something dark is lurking though the city, however, and word has come to the prince that thoughts of heresy and insurrection have somehow reached the minds of some of the citizens.

The player will take the roles of both the prince, who is investigating these rumors, and the dark entity that roams the alleys and the lands beyond the walls of the city. As the prince, you will talk to the people to try and find out as much as possible about this entity and delve any dungeon that evidence points to. As the dark entity, you will try to sway the good citizens to join your cult and cause chaos and rebellion against the emperor so that peace will be a thing of the past.

So far i have thought of a decent way to portray combat and get blood flowing through your brain at the same time.

normal combat :
- 1h weapons | 1-digit addition ex. above the players head will show a problem bubble of (5+6) this will lead to 1h attacks being very fast and hard to miss (which would be getting the problem wrong)

- 2h weapons | 2-digit addition attacks will be somewhat slower for the more untrained mind so misses will be expected to be much more frequent and damage much higher

- Magic | x-digit multiplication proportional to the power level of the spell

counters :
weapon types have +1 number of digits but bubbles will appear over enemies between their attacks. If answered correctly you will deal extra damage and invoke a status debuff depending on the weapon ex. stun, blind. Bosses will have this feature as well but for problems that will take a good amount of thinking. (keep a pencil and paper on hand!) non-magical = subtraction | magical = division

crafting or conjuring :
matrix math will dominate this area, starting with 2x2 matrices. (they are actually quite easy to do)

abilities:
basic algebra will handle abilities (ex. 3x + 5 = 11 : riposte) and trust me I have some cooler ability equations ready.

speech:

learning abilities:
You will be able to learn the equations mentioned above from masters around the land. They will also teach you the actual math if you are curious; Same goes for crafting.

I hope most of you will be excited for once to be a math wiz and more will be coming because I suck at mental math.

I've decided that since I have a map editor at my disposal, I will make pre-made maps for boss floors and places to rest, train, and buy in-between dungeons.
ex. chapter one will be within the confines of the city. The streets will provide all services, while talking to locals and persuading them by solving problems, like helping granny figure out how much feet of fencing she needs for her garden, will let you access the dungeons. After defeating the boss, you will move on to the next part of your journey.

Enemies now move and attack based on their own agility rather than all move at the same time. They can also perform critical hits in the form of simple algebraic equations solving for x.

ex. 3x-5=10 ... type 5 and you will block this slower but harder hitting attack.

The samurai enemies, having 2-handed weapons will attack with 2-digit problems, and based on their strength, components will only range from 10 - 30.

I thought I should mention this; I noticed the subtraction problems in this video are not working so I fixed the way subtraction problems are solved and blocking is back to normal. I hope you are staying tuned.
