Excalibur breaks the mould of traditional space simulation games by putting the player firmly in the boots of an experienced Starfleet captain. From the outset you will be able to control your character and command your ship as if you were standing on the bridge yourself. From taking direct control of the helm, to transferring command of any ship in your task force, or even calling your senior staff to the briefing room to discuss mission tactics; Excalibur is the most immersive Star Trek experience ever. Set six months after the events in Star Trek: Nemesis, Excalibur's story mode deals with the turbulent political scene caused by a decade of war and turmoil. From the second Borg incursion in First Contact, to the fall of the Dominion and the collapse of the Romulan political system; these events resulted in huge loss of life and changed the Alpha Quadrant forever.

Never seen Star Trek models done like that. Shows you how big developers cant actually take advantage of modern tech with large financial assets the way that the "fans" can.

Excellent. Have been following this for a long time and it never fails to impress. Have any previous official Star Trek games featured saucer separation? That could be a very sweet additional layer to the gameplay of this project, and will certainly look impressive when you first see that happening in game.

This is gorgeous and imagine th emodding possibilities, if this is modable liek i think it will be we can recreate all our Sci-Fi space battle needs. Command a Bc304 from Stargate, or the Andromeda or even a Super Star destroyer. Not to mention the epicly beautifl stock Star trek ships.

Question it may have been answered but will Excalibur have a campaign? or is it purely going to be a quick/custom battle set up?

There will be the Quick Battle Mode released this year without a campaign, just to show some capabilities of the engine and to get the first impressions. Later on next year, the dev will be shifted further into bringing in additional assets (interiors, crew interaction, complex inter-system dependencies like for example shuttllecrafts-to-ship-interaction etc)

The game itself is highly mod-able, you can even change the rendering-pipeline - meaning, you can modify core elements housing deep in the game-engine.

I hope for a structured modding-place where all the modders can talk to each others about their mods, so that they may work together to decrease bottlenecks - similar to what happend to the larger mods in Skyrim, where mod authors began to work together to make things less of a hassle. Time will tell.

WOW! This is the second time I watched this video but this time with full concentration. No wonder it has been taking so long. It is good!
The detail, the magnitude of possibilities, the graphics and much more caused much time to be spent on this. I never did realize the immenseness of what these guys have been doing! It is incredible! Could you imagine how much this game would cost if a game company were making it? Astronomical!
