New Trailer!

A new 2016 trailer has been released for Drunk On Nectar! The last trailer for the game was released almost 1.5 years ago (for those of you that remember the first DoN video!) and the game has come a long way since then.

Again, if you haven't already voted for Drunk On Nectar on Steam Greenlight please do so now!

There's a ton of graphical improvements and fixes in this new video, I hope you enjoy watching it!

Current Status

I'm working hard on polishing the game for its first release build. Almost everything is there now, but the last piece of the puzzle is in exposing DoN's myriad procedural generation systems to the players themselves so they can get the most out of the game. This includes random-map population and maybe even a first cut of the species designer for at least Fauna; flora is more complicated with its temporal-event scheduling system (fancy term for lifecycle/seasonal-growth) that I wrote for DoN's plants. Or I might leave out the species designer tools completely and get a first build out. We'll see.

Ultimately videos like this trailer only scratch the surface of the many systems hidden inside Drunk On Nectar so I'm anxious to expose as many of these as possible to the end-users in the first build itself so people get a sense for the enormous scale this game represents in terms of number of frameworks, custom systems and simulation tools that I've built for this game. Hopefully over time I'll be able to dive more deeply into each of these systems and the endless fun you can have with them!

Thanks for reading! Please vote for the game if you haven't already done so!

A playable build of Drunk On Nectar will be coming to you very soon!

Hey Beelim thanks for the feedback! Which areas would you like me to focus on for polishing? This is the right time to get this work done as I have a small window between now and release where I can take your feedback and improve whatever is possible. Please do let me know!

The textures in general will need a major overhaul, plus the areas around plants seem very bland in general. But what am I saying? doubtless it would be a beta version but I think you're going far :D

Hey Guest, thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it! Would you say that the plants need more texture-work than the animals or both?

You're absolutely right that the areas around the plants are lacklustre. The problem is - unlike regular games that can add any visual prop they like, here it has to be a living part of the nature simulation. Eg: If I add beautiful mushrooms around the plants it would look nice, but be meaningless unless I had my Fungi growth simulation bringing it to life _and_ unless spiders, etc could crawl on to it convincingly and use it as a living battleground for survival, not just a pretty foliage cardboard that sways in the wind!

Good news is that as more and more creatures/plants are added to the game all the bland/lifeless areas will slowly gain life-forms that actually belong there and hopefully add value to both the gameplay and the simulation.

Great feedback btw -please keep more of it coming, everyone. I'd rather hear it now than after the game's been released!
