Preorder beta bug thread Thread - Dominions 4: Thrones of Ascension

Here are the new instructions for bug reporting:

If it is a missing descriptions, then no report necessary, we know those.
If it is wrong sprite or wrong stats then use the other bug thread.

a) Check if your Bug is not already present here: Goo.gl in either Bugs or in Missing/wrong Content Sheets (you can hit CTRL+F if you're on Windows and try to find relevant keywords). If it is not, make your post about your Bug in detail in this topic. Try to make description as informative as possible while trying to keep things short and tidy. If you are encountering crashing, errors, etc., provide maximum according info on your situation, like: operating system, what installer you are using, your game's installation folder, etc. Also, what steps can be taken to reproduce the problem you're encountering?

b) Make short distinctive/informative name for it and place it here Goo.gl in one of the two sheets (either Bugs or Missing content, choose sheet from bookmarks at the bottom). Also copypaste your description from forum into corresponding Comment row. Fill out leftmost column with current date (in the same format as others' dates), you can just copy date from above and change it by double-clicking).

c) [Optionally] Please fill out reporter and anchor fields. I.imgur.com, you can get your anchor link like that: I.imgur.com.

d) You've made your contribution towards Greater Good. Thanks!

Will try my best (as time allows) to stumble on some bugs in LAN multiplayer mode. (my favourite)
Here's hoping that true fans won't just be braggin around or laying bricks and actually leave some useful feedback here and there.

Found a major bug--bug reports are open but the game won't install!

(And I'm sorry for the smilie, if you did not know that the beta isn't available yet. It might be available today though, but I'm not 100%)

obviously im biased but any progress you make between today and tomorrow will be minimal compared to not having to deal with another day of whining and crying form disappointed customers.

Any news yet? Helluva excited - I am like a little kid who must wait for christmass to open his present.

Just got my beta. Is Caelum supposed to have Ambush of Tigers as a national spell?

Yeah, first bug !

I'm on linux 64bits, at first game doesn't start. I had to go in dom 4 folder and make everything executable (it wasn't by default).

On a 2.4 GHz Macbook pro.

Try to start up the game. Seems to load up correctly, but then I never see an initial menu. Just what appear to be green clouds in the background. Keyboard doesn't do anything, mouse pointer is there and moves around, but nothing to click on.

Had the exact same problem with CoE 3 on the same machine. Never was able to get it to work.

2.4 GHz iMac (Core 2 Duo), Mac OS 10.6.8, after entering the CD key, got a crash to desktop. Further attempts to start up also cause a crash, (but CD key entry does not pop up, assuming it's fine), after a momentary black please wait screen. Music which was running at the same time stalled, crashes with or without music playing though. Running from the internal executable lists a segmentation fault.
The Error box that macos pops up lists a whole bunch of sound/audio related threads, sound_fetch and sound_fetchcustom.

Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x00000000bf7ffffc
Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

Can probably link the full error report if needed.

EDIT: Confirmed: Running with -s to disable sound allows me to get in game.

Got a BSoD trying to start it on my Windows 7 machine.

Tried starting it again and it works fine now. Not sure what happened.

Oh, don't put the thrones generation #s to max or your game will crash.

Ok, actual bug. Went to end my first turn, the game crashed and I got the error "bad spellnr"

I was playing as Lemuria.

edit: Started a new game, same paramaters as before (nation/pretender/map/scales) and ended the turn and had no problem.

Typo: In the description of early age Ur, it states :"Recalled god doesn't loose magic skills" I think you meant lose.

Maybe you should start a separate typo thread since it's not necessarily a bug?

Titan of the Sea pretender description with EA Rlyeh doesn't show the 3 water magic that he has; if you select him you can see the 3 water on the pretender/nation design screen.

Spellini is notoriously difficult to cook right.

Multiplayer has many issues.

-If disciples game is selected, then it seems nobody can load their pretender, the lists will be empty.
-When we tried to play, the map sending (random small map) failed and crashed all clients. The 'nagot gick fel' said they recieved a packet from the server.

Sprite bug.
My dragon pretender had to turn around to blast some imps, and then forgot to turn back around to blast the dudes behind him. Needless to say, he's shooting out frost from his butt.

Isn't the attack called "Dragon Gas?"

As in: that spellini gave me some terrible dragon gas.

EA Arcoscephale engineer has 325 (!) bonus to sieges. Could be intentional, seems like there was an extra "3" in front of the intended value.

On the reasearch screen, once you right click on a path to see the spells, their is not button to come back. At least "ESC" saves the day.

Another not really a bug, if you choose the option "warn on end turn", since their is no option like in COE3 to ignore a comander, then with a dozen of scouts it become nearly useless.

If you create new game with the same name as an existing one it won't delete the old game files. So you end up with

Asphodel and Vanarus are 1 game, Pythium and Lemura another.
