Monty Pythons Flying Circus
Best comedy series ever created by John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Terri Gilliam's on cartoon animations

Fawlty Towers
Another comedy tv show reated by John Cleese when he left Monty Pythons,very good stuff

Homicide: Life On The Streets
Police homicide investigation unit investigates violent crimes in the city of Baltimore.Character driven, well written and beautifully shot and edited

The Wire
Another crime series from David Simon who created Homicide,great and very realistic character that evolve and change as show progress

Game of Thrones
Based on George RR Martins Songs of Ice and Fire books.Fantasy with serious plot and plenty of characters for everybody's taste

Rome
Historical drama with excelent depiction of Ancient Rome, complete with drunkards, brawlers, womanizers, prostitutes, adulterers, fornication, and loads of sexual acts

Vikings
Series follow the story about Ragnar Lothbrok and band of Viking brothers and his family as he rises to become King of the Viking tribes. As well as being a fearless warrior, Ragnar embodies the Norse traditions of devotion to the gods

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Absolutely faithful to the original stories descibing adventures of Conan Doyle's detective. New version with Cumberbatch is also great beyond my expectations but Jeremy Brett will always remain true Sherlock Holmes to me.

Farscape
My favorite classic science fiction show,human astronaut finds himself as part of a fugitive alien starship crew

Can animations count as movies / series?
So many good movies and TV series', so I'll just post ones that pop into my head at the moment.

Movies:
The Raid: Redemption
An Indonesian movie, so prepare for subtitles or strange dubs.
Incredible action movie about a squad of police assaulting an apartment building filled with gangsters.

Ong Bak
Thai movie.Stars Tony Jaa which is proof enough of how amazing this movie is.
Another one with ridiculously awesome action. Story is about a stolen sacred statue taken to the big city and the warrior sent by its village to retrieve it.

Yojimbo
CLASSIC Japanese film. I truly believe it sets the benchmark of all other "Samurai" type films.
Story about two gangs fighting over a town, with one hiring a "Yojimbo" (bodyguard)

Seven Samurai
Another CLASSIC Japanese film. Great action, has comedic elements and story is simple but effective.
Story is about a poor village hiring a few samurai to defend their village from bandits.

13 Assassins
Fairly new Japanese movie. Great action and has comedic elements surprisingly. Takes many of its story elements from the classic but adds in more modern themes.
A group of Samurai conspire to kill their Shogun's sadistic brother.

Law Abiding Citizen
Great American revenge movie!
A father witnesses the murder of his family, but his lawyer sets the man free due to a corrupt justice system. He hatches a plan in jail to take revenge on the murderers and the corrupt.

Battle Royale
Ridiculously amazing Japanese movie. One of my top 10 movies to watch. This is the ORIGINAL "Hunger Games."
A highschool class is taken to an island and forced to kill each other until only one remains.

TV Series:
Dexter
Great series. Finished too!
Story is about a serial killer who works as a blood splatter analyst for the local police who goes about kidnapping and murdering other murderers / serial killers.

Chuck
Great story, comedy, romance and action sequences. Finished.
Story is about an average nerd somehow getting the CIA's secrets imbeded into his memory, and now the government has to protect him from those who wish to take it.

Leverage
One of my favorite series. Complete.
Story is about a modern day group of thieves, each specializing in a form of thievery. They steal from the rich and corrupt and help the innocent. (With a little bit of income for themselves as well)

Battlestar Galactica
CLASSIC space drama, with great action sequences and even romance. Highly recommend watching both the original and the new series. Complete.
Story is about a convoy of human space ships protected by an old obsolete battleship, trying to escape from a relentless robotic enemy and find their homeworld.

Babylon 5
Another classic sci-fi series. Great political / war drama. Complete.
Story is about a neutral space station, where all races in the galaxy have placed their diplomats to foster peace. But a hidden enemy and racial tension are fostering a new galaxy wide war.

Hannibal
Another great new series!
Chronicles the early life of Hannibal Lecter before the movies.

Misfits
British series. Great action and hilarious comedy with a decent storyline.
A group of delinquents get super powers and proceed to use them for their own goals, atleast in the beginning!

Supernatural
One of my favorite series! Nice action, comedy, drama, romance and bromance!
Two brothers hunt the supernatural things of the world, saving people, following in their family's business.
