The first ingame screenshot!

If you've been following Dilogus - The Winds of War for a while, you probably had the same feeling as many other avid fans: no ingame content for a long time now. Why is that so, you might ask, and we are here to shed some light onto that along with releasing the first, real, ingame material on the project.

One of the biggest challenges in game development is preparing for the reveal of the first ingame content to the public. Us, like any other group, team or company are no different in this case, as we are working hard to pull out the best from what we have and what we can do.

We are now fully a complete and stable team with all fields fully populated by very skilled and talented people. We had some screenshots before, but we were cunning enough to wait a bit more until our environments look decent for them to be showcased. Even thou we do feel that this is about half(or less) as good of how the game will look when it's done, we've decided that You, our fans deserve a preview of what's going on. So with no further talk, let's blast away with the first screenshot!

A calm night in Tyrum

Interview with OMG! Ubuntu!

We had a chance to sit down and chat with Benjamin from OMG! Ubuntu! and have put together an interview regarding the project - especially about the Linux side. If you are a Linux user, this will especially interest you, but if you're not, you'll still get a good glimpse into the plans behind the project. Head over there and have a look.

Here are some highlights:

OMG!Ubuntu! wrote: Have you seen the numbers from the Oil Rush pre-sale showing that nearly 90% of the purchases are on Linux? Do you expect Linux to be your primary market?

We have seen the impressive numbers from Oil Rush and we definitely do consider Linux to be a large portion of our community and potential market.

OMG!Ubuntu! wrote: How is open development working for you?

It’s great and it’s working well for us. It helps us as developers and allows the community to have some influence over the game. It would be great to see some larger studios adopting a more open development process as it forges a really strong link with the community.

OMG!Ubuntu! wrote: Do you have any plans to accept official user created content to expand the world within the game?

Dilogus: The Winds of War will most certainly be a modable game and the community will be able to create their own content. An RPG game is not nearly as much fun if people can’t add their own items, armors, create their own little place to play around – especially because the game will feature an open world to play in.We also definitely plan to include some of this community content in the form of official patches and integrate it into the game if they meet a certain quality criteria.

Creative players will effectively be able to help shape the world of Dilogus: The Winds of War past release. All of these official mods will be accessible to people that bought the game in the form free DLC through our online component. Modding is fun and it’s the best way to get into the game industry. We will make sure people have as much freedom as possible and we are fine tuning our tools so that they are very easy to use.

Thank you for supporting Dilogus: The Winds of War.

A nice idea, nice concept arts and the knowledge of "it would be for linux" give me a good feeling for this game... until today...
Now I saw a In-Game screenshot wich looked better then I believed for a "First one" and I also read so nice words of you for the way to develop this game and and als "patches after the releas"... Now I do not thing anymore "man this will be a good game". Now I think "this will be epic work from great guys" :)
Do your best to not destroy my hopes I put in you ;)

Definitely still looking interesting and professional.

Looks are always nice, yeah, but we all know it comes down to the gameplay - I shall hold any over-excited comments, 'til I see what you've got goin' on there.

Jaw-dropping work, guys! I love the realistic-yet-stylized setting you're showing off here. Is this shot using tessellation?

On another note, since you're being open regarding the development process, have you considered opening up a little more and providing an alpha release ala Natural Selection 2 or Overgrowth at some point? I think if you let people try out the game AND simultaneously help you improve the game in this way, you'll end up with a far better game than you would've had otherwise! (Plus, you'll be able to show off the game early to the Linux crowd. ;) )

Hi there Expack. Once we reach a certain stage with the project, we'll most certainly look into such possibilities.
