“A deserted island…a lost man…memories of a fatal crash…a book written by a dying explorer.” Two years in the making, the highly anticipated Indie remake of the cult mod Dear Esther arrives on PC. Dear Esther immerses you in a stunningly realised world, a remote and desolate island somewhere in the outer Hebrides. As you step forwards, a voice begins to read fragments of a letter: "Dear Esther..." - and so begins a journey through one of the most original first-person games of recent years. Abandoning traditional gameplay for a pure story-driven experience, Dear Esther fuses it’s beautiful environments with a breathtaking soundtrack to tell a powerful story of love, loss, guilt and redemption. Winner of 2012 IGF Excellence in Visual Art. Supported by Indie Fund.

We're excited to announce that Dear Esther is now 50% off (UPDATE: now 75% off!) as part of the Steam Summer Sales, not only that but you can also grab the Game + Soundtrack bundle for 75% off too!

A word of warning, this is definitely not for everyone, I can imagine someone downloading it thinking there would be a lot of action, but there is not. The game contains breathtaking vistas and other sights, the visuals is absolutely astonishing. I first thought that this game would only run with 30 fps on my computer, but the game ran surprisingly well, I don't think I had a single (visible) framedrop. If I had to give some criticism to the game, it would be the story and the way it is presented…

This game is not a game and the game length is almost as long as a movie. It's not worth the price tag for such a remake like this and should have deserved watching this through YouTube without the need to walk and play through a boring tale without the usual purpose of gameplay.

My god , that is really good graphics!
(buried)
what the hell, im not paying ten bux for a ****** mod **** that ********
Correct, you aren't. The mod is free.
The HL2 version of the mod is free but the remake Indie version is not.
The latter is not a mod. It's a full game using the Source Engine.
What is the Difference between this Game & the Free Mod??
Any Changes or Improvements other than the Price Tag??
Pretty much everything. Graphics, new areas, longer, ect.
You can support the makers. :)
Yeah but you see he hasn't given those games any time, so running from monsters is his interpretation of the game he thinks that's the point of it, that is where "the point" comes in.
