Dead of Knight is a fast paced, 3D hack n’ slash that takes place in a medieval castle. As an imprisoned knight, your quest is to journey through the dungeon, the courtyard, the hallway, and the throne room, all filled with henchmen, in an quest to kill the evil king who has corrupted this land.
The hero, the Dead Knight, is helped along the way by his sword and a special gauntlet that conjures two different weapons as his special attacks. These special attacks consume soul energy which also reflects the player's health. To replenish this energy the knight can grab an enemy and pull that enemy's energy into his gauntlet.
The Dead Knight must face 4 different enemy types and a final boss. There are two ghoul enemies, a melee and ranged which can be killed fairly easily when they are alone. However is large groups the player can easily become surrounded which can be fatal.
The Dead Knight must also face a Banshee which teleports away when hit, so she must be stunned to be killed quickly. The Banshee fires scaling projectiles whose hit area and damage increase the further the player is away from her. It is important to get in close and take the banshee out quickly.
The final enemy is a fearsome knight with a large shield which renders him invulnerable to attack from the front unless he is attacking. The enemy knight attacks are fairly slow and while it is alone easy to dodge, when mixed with ghouls and banshees the knight is extremely deadly. The knight's attacks pack a punch and if you're not careful to avoid, they can do some serious damage.
Finally we come to the Evil King. The Evil King has a vast array of abilities ranging from melee sword attacks, projectile attacks, and a room encompassing area of effect attack. I will not go in to too much detail about the king and spoil that fight for you.
This game is being developed by a team of 9 programmers, 8 artists and 3 producers as our final project for Full Sail University. We are given 5 months to develop a game from start to finish. The 5 months are broken into 2 months design and preparation with 3 months of art and programming. We are currently just finishing up our 4th month, with only 1 month to go. We are excited to see this game get polished for release!
We hope you enjoy playing our game and we welcome all the feedback we can get to improve the game!
We made gameplay videos showing off the action in Dead of Knight. There is one for each of the environments, except for the Hallway. We also have a longer video that jumps around to all of the areas. Enjoy!
