Where is the savegame.I want to start a new game, but my level is the same.

If you want to start a new game completely from scratch, you can go into the player options and then delete all of your saved data, be sure to reset the game entirely if you do, though.

I want to save my save position before doing the same so I can go back to my previous if I screw up. What file(s) do I need to backup?

I too would like to make a backup save of my game, so I can sell all my items and try out different weapons and combos to see how they work before buying them.

On another note, Does buying the game entitle me to install it in two places....like at work and at home as long as I only play 1 copy at a time....due to physical locations it might be hard or impossible for me to play both at once. I would like to get some trigger time in on my lunch hour at work and then take the save files home on a thumb drive, copy them to my home PC and continue on the same game.

I tried to backup the whole game folder and the changes I made effected the copy game location so the changes are in another place or in the registry files.

Think we need a tool to import-export save game files or have that included in one of the next patches.

OK, I found it after some considerable searching. Since it seems that Wraith don't want to tell us themselves.

Open regedit and find:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wraith Entertainment\Dawnstar
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1483909540-4107747572-2503045674-1001\Software\Wraith Entertainment\Dawnstar

If you export those to a .reg file, it should backup your savegame. Merge it again to revert back.

This should NEVER be in the registry! That is very bad programming indeed, the registry should never be used as a dynamic storage space. If corruption of the registry occurs, the whole of Windows can go down.
It is probably the main reason we are getting so many save bugs.

Yeah I found that also in the reg file.
Ive been backing up and moving my game back and forth from home with it and exporting it to make the save.

I also agree that needs to be removed from the registry and placed in a save.gam type of file and update it as needed.

Especially since many of the entries show (invalid DWORD (32bit) value)
This tells me that the code that writes the reg entries is also wrong.

I have removed the game and all the reg entries and won't be considering another Wraith game until they change this policy.

While I won't (over)react like Dave49 by saying I won't buy another game unless..., please, leave my registry alone next time.
Thanks.
