Try out the first alpha demo of Daedalus! Play in local versus bots or on internet versus other players. Use the seven available weapons to crush your...
Daedalus is a multi-player top down arena shooter. It is inspired by games such as Quake 3 and Unreal tournament in terms of game modes and gameplay, and also by the old Alien Breed games for the top down 2D view.
The control scheme is the same as for a first person shooter, so it is very easy for someone used to play any FPS to gain skill in Daedalus. Another alternate control scheme is also available in the options: it is quite the same as Alien Swarm's one, with a fixed camera ( no rotation ), and a mouse cursor to aim and shoot.
Daedalus is mostly a multi-player game, but will also propose single player action versus bots. Different game modes will be available:
The multi-player model of Daedalus is the same as the one used in the old FPS games like Quake 3: there is no main server that you have to connect to in order to play on internet. I will provide some servers but in fact anyone will be able to run his own server. Running a server on a LAN will not require an internet access.
The game will also come with a map editor so that anyone will be able to create and share his own maps. I hope to be able to release it beginning of 2014. :)
After two years of development, I'm proud to announce that an alpha demo is now available for Windows, Mac and Linux !
The game is currently still in development, so this demo is not feature complete but it will give you a nice taste on what you can expect in the final release. It includes:
You will have the possibility to use 7 different weapons to annihilate your opponents:
A brand new website is now up and running for the game. The demo is downloadable from it:
I hope you will appreciate this demo, don't hesitate to give some feedback here if you try it !
