The time is up; you can't stay there reading your smses forever. It's time to head out and find the answers. Cry of Fear is a singleplayer modification of Half-Life 1 which brings you the horror you've always been afraid of. It's a total conversion of Half-Life 1, which means it uses NO Half-Life 1 content or other peoples' files. It's all made exclusively by the developers. It also uses new gaming styles that you will rarely find in Half-Life mods, such as advanced cutscenes and other stuff that will be revealed at a later date.

Nice stuff as always, I wanted to see more footage rather than chat but I guess you don't want to show too much... Would be nice to see some more of the subway though, without spoilers ofc! Voice acting section was cool anyhow (Sorry Rumpel I know how to make textures :P), was nice to see them both really getting into their roles.

Yeah the sound is out of sync. It happened when we uploaded the video to ModDB, so it's not our fault. Although, I've heard that the sound should fix itself after 10 minutes, which is obviosly untrue, as it has gone 1 hour and 14 min already. We will just wait and see if the ModDB staff can fix it.
Yeah I apologize my bad, I was wrong in saying 10 minutes. The video seems to be in sync now, though.

The longer video, the longer time it takes for the sync to be fixed. I don't know. Next time we will put a download link as well, so people can download it if the sound gets unsynced.

Btw, the out of sync-ness makes it look like DragonNOR has Aina's voice, and vice-versa.
Come on guys, show us more content next time - some levels in editor, maybe step by step creation of single part of the map or model. That's what people always interested to watch. However, very nice video! Looking forward for the new episodes. ;)

And about the content; I was not sure about what to show, as I already showed how I made my maps in the last videocast, so I thought showing textures and how I make them from the ground could be interesting. I also don't want to spoil much, that's the main reason of why we're not showing much.
And about James part, he had made a nice video about coding, but as his PC kinda died, we could not use his video, so he made something quick with his laptop, where he had nothing to show from CoF.
Quite a diverse team... Cry of Fear is gonna rule :)
Video works now, It's really cool, but as BuZZeR said, you should show us more content next time, keep up the good work and get us a new videocast sometime before the actual release :)

Im a VA here and there myself, and that part of Stig and Aina was very interesting, the voices are perfect, and the call was really good. Looking forward to the work of these people alot!
Then to ruMpels part, really cool too. Checking out abandomned places for textures is really something. I might not say *great textures* myself alot, but I still look at the walls and details and say *thats cool and realistic looking*. And wow, so many photos and everything, my respect Sir >)

Great video! Very informative. Nice to meet the team! Funny some times. Especially the part where Draggonor realised he was talking Norwegian. My favourite author was Norwegian! I'm half Austrian myself, and several times we see Andrea Reiu preform in Norway (my mom likes to watch it around christmas time).
Now, to talk about the video CONTENT. It was very informative, as I said. But how much did that...er, H4, right? How much did it cost? Looks expensive. How could you afford it? Especially for a free mod.
I like how all the voice actors, and Rumpel from the same country (are they in the same town, too?). It's much easier to work with.
The part with the call looked pretty cool. But it's not that realistic with the subtitles and all. Maybe if you had SOMETHING like the HEV suit.
I'm surprised how you get the textures, Rumpel. Probably because in my mod, HypernovA, i'd never find any textures that way - everything's supposed to be high-tech in mine. So, CG for my mod (made by me). But are you allowed in the hospital? And how far do you live from it?
On your computer, Rumpel, I think you should put everything in one folder in another drive. Easier, and more space-efficient. Also, I think you should use HyperCam or something. It's annoying. You have a lot of glare. But not as much glare as pictures, obviously. That was A LOT.
Also, why'd you pay for a site maker. I would've made it for free for you.
Basically, Good work, looks great, looks risky (in the hospital), please use Hypercam, and snow ROCKS (I don't get any snow because I live in Egypt. But I have been in snow in Austria)

What do you mean about the call part? That it would be more realistic with something like the HEV suit? Its a call, so you pick up and listen... the subs are surely optional. So whats not too realistic about it?

Well, the subtitles. Since when do you see floating words? And the HEV suit would make it more realistic - because the HEV suit has a screen, with different elements on it. It'll just be more realistic. But I guess they're not aiming for a total realistic game. But it's still probably the best horror mod ever.

In all games these days you see subtitles. Like D3ads mentioned here, sometimes you cant make out everything in certain scenes. I agree that I always try to play a game without subs because its more realistic. But its still nice to know that you can turn on some subs if you dont got everything that was said.
That other thing sounds like Simon should wear some suit xD Thats abit drifitng away from realistic and into Humans VS Aliens again lol
Of course you could now say *What is a perfect realistic game*? Like, Simon would need to eat, sneeze, take a nap - well, not really nessecary to mention it all ^^ I think the game has enough realistic aspects already like falling down stairs, using drugs as health and so on.
But Im sure Cry of Fear will be the best Half-Life 1 Horror mod ever, I certainly agree on that one >)
The H4 originally costs around 3k Norwegian crowns (estimate 300£) and comes with QBase sound editing software. In my case the cost doesn't really matter, it was an investment with professional work in mind, not an idle purchase for use in modding only allthough its a nice bonus :)
Usually, the less the hardware costs the worse the quality. I had one recorder that sounded like I was talking under water, and thats a no go when you're recording voice and song :)
Just refreshed now, and saw your comment. OK, I agree. I just figured it'd be a lot. Turns out it wasn't. Glad you got that bargain!
Some gamers are deaf, so there's that aspect to think about, plus I often miss bits of dialogue in games like Silent Hill audio wise when there's a lot of natter, so I turn subtitles on whenever possible. Who cares about realism in a game like this? :P
