Contagion is a cooperative survival horror FPS built on the latest Source Engine where players are forced to watch their ammo and aim carefully otherwise be overrun by the zombie hordes. Players will face traditional zombies as well as former teammates who have been turned themselves and now see not friend but fuel to keep the carnage going.

  • Play alone, with a friend, friends, or with a group either offline or online.
  • You begin your story as a survivor but how long until your taste buds hunger for flesh?
  • Randomly generated weapon, ammo, and item placement.
  • Unpredictable and intelligent zombie spawning system that adjusts to the players actions.
  • A pathing and objective system that has you returning to the same map repeatedly with a fresh feel to it.

Once GDC ended, we took some time to gather our bearings and review all the feedback we received. All we can really say at this point is that big things will be happening that could make a significant impact on Contagion. Now that we know where we stand and know what we need to do to improve, we're back in business with more determination than ever!

Today we're going to give you a sneak peek into a little zombie creation! Many may be wondering what kinds of zombies you'll encounter while playing Contagion. While we're not ready to reveal everything we have in store, we do want to show you what a few may look like. The timelapse video will reveal a little workflow sculpting for one of the many zombies you'll annihilate along the way!

Nice stuff you got here guys, but I personally think your need more chaos in maps for ongoing zombie outbreak. For example -- furniture out of place or laying on it's side. To make us feel like someone fought here or simply ruined that place because he's mindless walking dead.

I hope this is planned in future. Right now everything just looks like regular office space or even CS:S map but with blood decals and scattered document textures here and there.

I realize players are zombie, and this affects balance, but it's all kinds of lame when you have a .44 Magnum and pump a bullet directly into a Zombies head and they don't go down.

For some reason, in ZP, for HL1, it works perfectly, but maybe due to Sources lag compensation, I see the bullet, I see the blood, I see the Zombie keep coming at me.

Truly lame...especially with slow firing weapons, limited ammo, and fast zombies.

The 1911 is a 1 shot 1 kill weapon when you score a headshot. Mind you the Zombies don't charge directly at you with their head static and depending on your ping you'll probably have to get use to timing your shots differently then others like every other MP game. But in the end we'll all blame the game, lag, or mouse anyways won't we? heh.

Left 4 Dead's AI actually is quite amazing for what it can do in such a game. It's not as simple as most games for AI to do.

Also - is that a map from ZPS (the office space)? I haven't played it in a while, but I kept having flashbacks during that vid. Nice demo, looks good and promises some interesting features. I'd really like to know what the blurry parts are. Seems like an interesting mechanic.

oh - also - while I like the icons of the HUD, they seem a bit large at the moment. 2/3rd of the current size would still be plenty to notice the switch between shotgun and pistol.
