In this world, color has been lost. Eventually, you will find the dark beings that stole it. You'll find a strange huge but powerful brush that gains power when it absorbs a color.Each color that you absorb gives you a unique power and each plays differently. Also as you absorb colors, they combine on the fly and with diffrerent color combination you unlock new attacks giving you different possibilites to combat your enemies. With this you will face the dark thieves of color and return the color and life to this world.

Eventually you will discover that this world and you share a special connection... a connection that may change your life.

Colorful is a game about giving color and life to a dead and colorless world. This is why the world must have vivid and lifely colors so that when you see it turn from black and white to it's natural state you clearly notice all the colors returning. Besides, with more vivid colors the effect of recovering colors is much more noticeable.

The other thing about the world is that I'm looking for natural scenario (forest, lake, plains, jungle,etc). I prefer this over cities and techonology because this game is about returning life to the world and nature is much more relatable to life than cities made of concrete or a space station. Nonetheless, I'm ok with having a few shacks or huts in the scenario as long as they aren't too big in the world.

So, to sum it up, the world I'm looking for Colorful is a natural place with vivid and contrasting colors so that when the world recovers its colors you can clearly see it and as far as I know a cartoony look matches that criteria much better than a realistic one.

Here's a look on the shader I'm using on a cartoony bunch of rocks on the left and a realistic one on the right. As you can see, the effect looks much better with the cartoony looking rock.

And by the way, I know there hasn't been a new download in quite a while but I'm working on one snice the game has evolved a lot since the last download I uploaded and I need feedback on the changes the game has had. Coming soon guys just be patient please :)

the sky should be black and white two, that would make the world feel more drained of color.

also what about having some sort of dark particle effect around the dark creatures, as if they are sucking up white two. Maybe the aim is to stop them before they drain even white from the world just leaving black! As the game goes on the world could slowly get darker, and maybe the paint blobs would get harder to find.

yeah the sky definitely needs to be black and white. Well for the enemies I was definitely going to add some black smoke or something else to make them feel like darkness and not so as a solid enemy. And also I DO intend the enemies to steal color from this world as it is one of the themes around the game.

I have been planning on making a game with a magic system something like in Magicka for a wile. It was the first time I had seen a game where you can be creative real-time, I was just gobsmacked at the potential of that idea.

I like the look of your game for that reason too as it allows the player to be creative and make their own attacks in real-time.

hahah thanks really. YEAH I LOVE MAGICKA! that magic system was SOOO awesome and allowed soo much creativity in how you dealt with every encounter. But keep in mind that for such system you can have to implement EVERY possible combination so I'm trying to stay realistic in the number of colors one can use.

Also if you liked that you should check Transistor's combat system.

I have had so much fun with Magicka, also because it has local co.op, there are so few games that do that at the moment. I have always played it when I have a friend over then you can combine spells and things, although we mostly end up killing each other in every way possible accidentally....

yeah I can see how it is would be a big and complicated job making all the variations combinations.

Yeah it would be to be able to working together a bit some time, it is hard being a one person team... Is it just you working on Colorful? and if we were to help each other out whats your area so to speak? I'm better at the art side of it rather than coding.

Found a glitch :P When I got orange, it usually gives you a sort of speed bost or something right? I flew out of the map since it kept activating for some reason.
