There are some people having problem hosting online game in Bloody Trapland, so here is a quick guide of how to do it.
Feel free to ask any question you may have related to this right here.

To be able to host online games in Bloody Trapland, you will need to open/forward port 6883 if your behind a firewall/router.
How you do this varies deepening on your OS/Router/Firewall.
Verify if your port is open here: Canyouseeme.org

If you for some reason is not able to open/forward this port, you may use hamachi to host a game instead.

Hamachi Guide:
1: Download and install Hamachi Secure.logmein.com
2: Inside hamachi, press the big start button.
3: A new window pops up, here you select a name for yourself.
4: Once connected, hamachi will established a virtual network for your computer, allow this as a homenetwork.
5: In hamachi Press "Create a new network", and set a name/password.
Give this name/password to your friends so they can join your network.
6: In hamachi, next to the Start button, you will see an ip like "5.78.81.94" for example, give this ip to your friends, they will need it to connect manually inside Bloody Trapland.

7: That's it, start Bloody Trapland, host a game, and let the mayhem begin!

So i forwarded the 6883 port, and it didn't work. I also did step by step what you said for Hamachi and that didn't work as well. My friend keeps getting timed out

It sounds like you or your friend have a firewall blocking.
Make sure you give the application "Bloodytrapland.exe" network access on both your computers. And add a rule for allowing port 6883 both in and out.

Can you see port 6883 on Canyouseeme.org?

Nah I can't even see it on port 6883. How exactly do I give it network access?

Jul 12 2012 Anchor

Depends completly on your setup, if you have a third part firewall for example. but this is how you do it on windows 7:
Windows.microsoft.com

Hi, I've opened my ports to 6883, but it still says it's closed. It works for minecraft when I use the given website to check if the port works. Do I enter a different ip-address for the port? Currently I enter my ipv4 address for my ports.

Hi Undiminished,
I can't say for sure why the ports are closed, that depends completly on your home setup (os/firewall/router etc).

Are you behind router of some sort? If so you will need to foward the port to your computer.

Thanks for the quick response!

I was just hosting a public game to test if my port was open and random people joined my game so I assumed the port works. Even though the site says my port is closed, I assume it's working regardless. I'll let you know if I have trouble when my friends try to join in a couple of minutes.

Fantastic game by the way! A lot of laughs so far with just random people that joined. I know this is a tad off topic, but is there any chance for an in-game chat as well as a group consensus on continuing to the next level?

It works, but my game crashes at loading screens occasionally. My friends time out frequently. We switched to hamachi and the same deal happens. I like the game, but it got pretty frustrating. With the random people it didn't crash very often. I dunno why it's different.

Thats strange, but good to know though.

Thanks! Glad you like it :)

A chat will be available in a later patch, but currently other things are prioritized.
We are working on fixes for both those issues, a new patch will probably be released in the next week.

Im having the same problem. Do you know how to open/forward your port 6883?

I went here:
Canyouseeme.org
And it says my port is timedout. Same goes for my friend.

Apparently that site isn't always reliable, try it ingame instead. If everything is ok, you should see a "ping" in the lobby.
How you portfoward varies from router to router, your best bet is to google "router name" + "portfoward"

Okay Awesome I think I got it. Thanks!
But now we cant join each other or keep disconnecting because the Ping is too high. Is there a way to fix that?
I think this is happening because my friend and I are in different countries. But still is there a way to play with him?

Hmm This dont work for me :/
Hamachi gives me a blue dot instead of a green one between my firiend and I.
Does anybody know how you fix the blue dot on hamachi. ^^

How do I open/forward port 6883? I dont what that means. :\ I really wanna start playing with my friend already...

Aug 1 2012 Anchor

I think it will be easier for you to do the hamachi thing then. Just follow the 7 steps above, remember that both of you need to install hamachi though.

Hello! I recently bought Bloody trapland for myself and my friend and we both think its awesome (a bit frustrating sometimes though >.<). However we cant really play online together since neither of us knows how to portforward. I dont know if this really is a good place to post it but my friend says hamaachi has a virus in its latest update is it true? Please answer cause we really want to play with eachother.

Hey,
Glad you guys like the game! :)

Hamachi is a very big and well known program, so I have a hard time beliving that.
Just make sure to download from their offical site and you should have nothing to worry about.

ye i have the same problem i port forwarded 6883 and it doesnt work so i tryed hamachi and still doesnt work but its only this game that it doesnt work with like wtf i have nothing but problems with this game

oh and also what do u assign the port to?

Aug 23 2012 Anchor

Port forwarding might be a bit tricky depending on you setup/experience, so if ur having problem i would suggest using hamachi.

Do you and you friend/s get connected to the same hamachi lobby with a green light? If so, host a server and let you friends join you by choosing "Manual join" and enter your hamachi ip. This is important as they will not be able to connect to you through the server list.

Hey, a bit of a problem. My bloody trapland isn't full screen, and it's up in the corner hidden. What to do? c:
Nevermind, I fixed it. I also have another question; Desura seems to lag me a bit. Does it reallly have
to be downloaded in order to play bloody trapland? @_@

Edited by: Kitsuno

Sep 3 2012 Anchor

No, you don't need Desura to play. You could either download the standalone, or just start the game from the folder: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Desura\Common\Bloody Trapland"

Sep 23 2012 Anchor

What does port/forward mean?

Sep 24 2012 Anchor

It's basicly that you setup your router to send all the packages that come from a specific port to be forwarded to a your computer, i.e, the game host.

However, how you do this varries from router to router.

It would be cool if there was no port forwarding, most of us aren't that technical and just want to enjoy the game. Hamachi doesn't sound like a bad idea too but not good as the official servers and you get to meet to new people.

Oct 10 2012 Anchor

hi freakbreed,
Yes I agree, but the problem is that it's not that easy to just "fix". However, if the router supports UPnP the game will automatically make it work (no port forwarding needed).
We also have planned some solutions using "NAT punch through" in the future, but we don't have the resources to do so right now.
