This demo is more of a taste of game play than the last one, but still with some obvious holes. There is no player character, still the flying gun - sorry about this! So you can't loose from dying or being disabled. Actually there is no "game over" at all yet so in this sense it's still a sandbox.

There is simple AI. All it does now is pretty much to shoot blindly; if there's a friend in the line of fire that friend will be dead, but it adds a new level of game play (shoot them before they shoot the hostages).

I've added some new audio. There are new sounds for suppressed weapons, the shotgun, and for doors opening and closing.

Closed doors will block the player from walking through, so the player needs to open them or blast them down with the shotgun. They also block the AI's line of sight, so "situations" are isolated to rooms by closed neighbouring doors.

Even though the characters still don't move (this is still a large obstacle for me to overcome - connected to animations) I feel that the game play can come quite a bit with this.

Apart from the changes, there are also some things I'm throwing into this demo that I just didn't include in the previous one. Those are the other three firearms - a machine pistol/compact submachine gun, a bigger submachine gun, and a shotgun. Finally there's the grenade. It will probably not have a practical use when the game play is in proper place, since it just kills everything - likely even the thrower! But there will be other grenades created from its base that will serve better: concussive/distractive, smoke and gas.

I will refrain from posting long changelogs, partly because I don't keep track yet, and more because I think they are boring to read. Perhaps they will find a place later but for now, these are the changes that I've made in response to comments I've had:

More animations, in order to show better feedback when characters are hit, but also as they weaken because of blood loss or otherwise. They will go to their knees and then to all four before becoming unconscious. While I was at it I added partial rag-dolls; meaning that now I can make parts of the characters go limp while they are still standing. I also fixed a bug that made forces from bullets acting on characters work in the same direction no matter which direction they were hit from (this made them fall to their right very often). Finally rooms that are hidden behind closed doors are not entirely blacked out any longer. Instead they are shadowed out so that you can see the general shape of the room but you can't see objects inside it.

There are some known issues (and I'm sure you will find more for me!):
You can stick weapons through closed doors and fire into the room on the other side. This will be addressed later. Also there are one or two animations that are a bit glitchy. I will hopefully get those sorted as well.

Please try the new demo and leave some feedback! Thanks!

PS. If the demo is not up yet it's waiting for approval.

Hi, I made a mistake with the text visible in-game. It's actually 'G' you need to press to throw grenades and not '5' as it says. Sorry!

ah I didn't get to try any grenades but the game is getting better! A couple things tho, I had 2 people spawn very close/overlapping each other, and can you add some wall splatter?

Thanks for trying the demo. You need to press G to throw the grenades, I made a mistake with the instruction in-game. I can fix it so that they don't spawn to close to each other, I'll do that before the next demo. And there actually is wall splatter. It just has to get real violent before blood will fly that far so you don't see it very much. In later versions I will add more options for blood and gore so that you can crank it up. :)
