We asked ourselves, what would happen if Amnesia and Clive Barker’s: Undying had a baby? The result would be Blinding Dark, a First Person Shooter horror game. Complete puzzles, collect items and power-ups, fight enemies and do your best to manage the very thin resources you have at your disposal. Blinding Dark will have a total of 6 Acts and each Act will take place in a different environment while adding to the story and gameplay.

We are happy how things are progressing. As usual we like to keep it short and sweet, so let's see the changelog for Blinding Dark version 0.8.5.

Hi guys,

First o all we want to start with the bad news. There will be no demo update for this week. Due to large and sensitive changes to some of the systems and the level design, we were not 100% confident that we should release the new version this week.

Check out the video showcasing the changes as well as the new level in the works:

Changelog:
- New light system that activates / deactivates the dynamic lights based on players position, view and visual blockers. This drastically reduces the load on the GPU (graphics card) while allowing for more detailed and dynamic lighting within the level.
- reduced the difficulty and the actual time needed to complete certain platform areas. The game's emphasys is not set on platforming :)
- finally, Ardens Ira our final weapon is textured:

- new item added: torches. Torches physically interact with the environment and cast dynamic light.

- the third chapter of the first Act will take you to Oneiros, a parallel plane similar to the one in which the first two chapters take place. In Oneiros, the action will be mostly focused on collecting different items in order to combine them and complete objectives. Also, Oneiros is even more focused on exploring the darkness, but be careful, as the risks are equally great as the rewards.
- implemented the moving platforms system (still requires some tweaking and polishing). This system will be encountered only in Oneiros, where warlocks and other malefic savants developed these hellish mechanisms. Use elevators to climb tall towers, fast trains to travel through ancient galleries or activate triggers to get past massive stone doors.
