Shortly after his uncle is killed in an automobile accident, author Maximilian Ludlow returns to Black Creek. He is haunted by cryptic childhood memories and starts to write a book about a gruesome series of murders that plagued the town 90 years ago. Not long after his arrival, he makes an unsettling discovery.
