Battlemass is a turn-based strategy game with both single-player and multi-player support. A match is played on a map consisting of tiles, and in turns of 3 phases – combat, harvest and build. The goal is to destroy your opponent's Base/City Unit. One of the cool features of the game is that you harvest the map/board's tiles for resources but in the process destroy the tiles, and any unit on such a tile.

I've made the FULL game of Battlemass FREE to play, so go grab the new version now.

Battlemass is a multiplayer ONLY game, so be sure to invite a friend to play a match against you if you can't find anyone online when you want to play. Remember that it is also possible to continue a match at a later stage, so you could easily join a match, take your turn and then login again later through the day or even the next day to check if your opponent took his turn.

I thought it would be interesting looking back at the past 5 months of Battlemass’ development and write a little something about the development side.

I just downloaded this game this morning, and I love it! The only issue is that I can't use the game's online features for some reason, so I've just been stuck with the AI.

If anyone can help me out, it would be much appreciated!

Yup... got this from the developer: "Hi, The Battlemass server has been permanently taken down. The only way it can be played now is single player and hotseat multiplayer." :(

I've also not been able to log in for at least the last week... Perhaps they took down the servers...? Would be nice to play against people though - the AI becomes predictable and easy to beat.

Hmmm... Never heard of Greed Corp till your comment and just looked it up - I agree, it looks very similar. I'm pretty sure Greed Corp must have been the inspiration for this, although, not having played GC, I won't be able to tell if this is a blatant ripoff or not... From the videos and screenshots though, I get the impression that Greed Corp might be a lot more involved than Battlesmass...?

Doesn't work in Linux. I've started it and it gave me nothing but a blue screen. It's a shame, because it looks like a fun game.

Note that you need a GFX card that is at least DX9 capable, so a TNT would not work. That is a bit old for 3D gaming.

I have (still) Lubuntu 11.04. I think the problem might be in my video card - an old Nvidia tnt2 model.
