Aftermath is a 2D indie MMORPG which takes place on an alien and desolated home world during the Viking Age. Explore the procedurally generated world where players jointly build cities, form alliances, wage wars and plunder in an ever-changing world.

Enjoy the nostalgic feeling of the graphics which is inspired by games like Zelda A Link to the Past, but with a more brutal and dark theme like the one seen in the uncompromising game Hotline Miami.

The game will be fully playable with the NES controller with a combo based combat system.… ohh.. and the game is HTML5 browser-based – no installation!

The game will feature

  • Rich economic system, including:
    • Limited world resources
    • Crafting, trading and caravans (no instant shipping)
    • Building houses, walls, towers, etc.
  • Full player-loot – be careful what you carry, where you go and with who
  • Plundering system – be an outlaw or a bounty hunter!
  • Combo based combat system
  • Procedurally generated world
  • And more..

Alpha tests every weekend in January from week 2
In the next 4 weeks I’ll develop Aftermath full-time divided into 4 stages. At the end of each week, I’ll update the alpha version with the newest systems, which will be playable for registered users with granted alpha-access (sign up for alpha-testing here). Each stage will contain an alpha version with some of the most important systems for the game.

If there is an interest about the game at the end of the month, I might be able to work full-time for the next 5-6 months.

Stage 1 (January 6-12): Networking and graphics
Implementing Socket.IO
Movement
Animations
Chat

Stage 2 (January 13-19): Put your armor on and fight
Items
Stats
Fighting
Skillsystem

Stage 3 (January 20-26): Craft and trade
Crafting
Trading
World placement

Stage 4 (January 27-February 2): Plunder and A.I.
Plundering system
Wildlife and laborers
